Supposedly it would balance my energies because it is my least favorite color!
But my genitals cringe at the idea of wearing orange underpants. They are like NOOOOOTHANKYOU.

I find it strangely comforting that someone has created this.

So sure, there's a lot of rapey and racist folks out there--but at least it's not EVERYONE. People see it and give a crepe. Even though it's sad to know that it's out there, I find it heartening to know that people are taking their own unique kind of stand against it.

OkC made me truly angry at such a large part of humanity when I was on it. I also met some of the very coolest people I know on there, and I know a number of people whom I admire and adore who met amazing now spouses on there, but GODDAMN could it also make me hate people. It's nice that there's a way to help you focus on those who don't suck as much.

new member here - have also just joined OKCupid. I am much more optimistic about this site, I have to say, though there's one promising person so far.

You could be so I'd give him another chance but be on the lookout for things like that. The comment that they're known for bad service doesn't seem rude to me. He could just be worried that you'll think bad of him taking you to that place if you notice bad service.

Did you give him a second shot? How'd it go?

Funnily enough, I hit her up a few days later to ask if she wanted to get coffee to try getting to know her better and she politely told me that she wasn't interested.

Other dates have gone better. I'm crushing on some people in my graduate program, which is probably a bad idea, so I'll leave that to daydream about.

I have an OKC date tonight and I really don't want to go! I'm trying not to let myself cancel but...and it's not about him! He seems like a perfectly nice person who I would like to meet. But I just find the whole idea (and reality) of internet dating sort of exhausting. The chances that there will be any kind of chemistry seem exceptionally small, and the most likely outcome is an innocuous hour not worth the anxiety leading up to it.

Pretty sure I should just get a cat and embrace spinsterdom.

Go and have fun! It can be an hour of time or less and you might meet an interesting new friend.

How did it go j-dub.

I usually feel the way you do before dates too. Unfortunately I'm usually right!

It actually went quite well, but I don't think either of us were really feeling it. We chatted easily which was nice. But, god damn it, no one seems to understand how funny I am!

Yeah my last date didn't get how funny I (think I) am either. It was awkward.

I accidentally referred to "children and humans" and then laughingly reassured him that I do, in fact, consider children to be humans. He didn't even smile.

Ha! I think it's funny, and would have laughed. I'm glad you went to try it out anyway.

oh and hey, I got a message from OKC that I now have some moderation powers. anyone else had/have this? (for anyone wondering: basically you get to review flagged photos to see if they're actually breaking rules. I don't have any real power though)

baps, now I'm wondering if this alluring fellow actually wrote "fork" or was that the filter? That would be an interesting fetish: "Please young man, stick a fork in my wrinkles".

So yeah, I met a vegan I'd been chatting to online, and to paraphrase a TV show: why is so much emphasis placed on first impressions? I make a great fourteenth impression!

I just do not feel like myself when I meet people in person, and I consequently ramble on about things that I don't really care about that much. Sadface. It would have been cool to have a vegan friend.

if it makes you feel any better, by the time you're rambling, you're well beyond the first impression stage :P and (in my experience!) people don't usually mind that you ramble - it's more *what* you're rambling about that leaves the impression

Yeah, that's comforting :P ;) I think I need to stealth hang-out with people until I'm comfortable and then spring my obvious and unbelievable awesomeness at them :P

I went back on OKC, partially out of curiosity and partially for entertainment. Turns out there is a cute guy who seems nice, I guess everyone makes themselves seem nice. His profile says he is going through a divorce, not a big deal, but he also has a kid. I am not a kid person at all, they make me awkward and uncomfortable. So, I've always had it in the back of my mind that people with kids are a no go, but is it really a dealbreaker?

For long-term sustainability, that sounds like a dealbreaker-- though probably more for him than you. Do you feel awkward and uncomfortable around kids even when you know them well and have spent a lot of time with them? Or just in a "I don't know you, and I don't know HOW to know you" stage?
