Last night was date #4 with the vegetarian from OKC and I'm definitely feeling it. We spent like 9 hours together yesterday, about half of which was spent at his house just talking. I think this could really turn into something?!

But we still haven't kissed and that's getting awkward. I think he wants to, but he's shy, but I am too and I've never initiated a first kiss and I'm stupidly nervous about having to do it. He held my hand at the movies the other night, which was nice, but I was shivering because it was sooooo cold in the theater, and he thought I was shaking because I was uncomfortable. I explained, but I think now he's even more hesitant to make a move.

The best kiss initiation I can recall was started by the person asking if they could kiss me. Sexy and not awkward. In case you decide to go for it.

so I came into this thread to say that I started up with Tinder last week. This is my first online dating experience. I have quite a few matches already, and I haven't been shy about sending the first text. But I'm not getting a lot of responses. Either nothing, or dead end responses. When you guys start a conversation, do you mention specifics about the person, or just say Hi?

Mention specifics! What made you message the person, etc. If someone messages me with a "hey, how's it going?" I tend not to answer, because usually they are poor matches who have not read my profile.

I hear that, but Tinder is not OKC. A match is likely from looking at photos, not everyone writes about themselves. Anyway, I think your instincts are right.

Ugh, I guess once I'm done with all my firefox windows that are open that I need (maps and stuff for my research) I will switch back to Chrome. But the ads! I need ad blockers for Chrome like I have on Firefox!

it's pretty knee-jerk. you'll proooobably find that all kinds of bigots contribute to every piece of software you use. Eich's personal values aren't impacting how Mozilla is run (i.e. it still offers insurance for all couples, etc). a CEO is ultimately just another employee who is hired by/accountable to the board.

remember, Mozilla's CEO is not Mozilla. Mozilla as a company is still a forking shit-ton more ethical than Google.

(I'm sticking to Firefox)

on topic: I've been back-and-forthing with someone who has me totally intrigued. in a very weird way it's the most attracted I've been to someone's mind in a long time.

I have a feeling that in the past, these sorts of things weren't such a to-do (about any number of things people might disagree on) but social media has made molehills into mountains, like you mention with the "CEO is not the company as a whole."

If it isn't in the company documents (like Hobby Lobby or Chik Fil A) should it really be something to boycott?

Just to say I'm not boycotting Mozilla/Firefox myself, but thought it might be an interesting point in relation to this thread.

I thought the OKC thing with Mozilla was forking awesome, and I was going to install Chrome today but now just saw that the CEO resigned. Yay, I hate change.

Yeah, I kind of think that's an awesome response of OKC, and awesome that he ended up resigning, too. I think social taboos that encourage people to keep their bigoted ideas to themselves because people knowing about your prejudices would be personally embarrassing and potentially damaging to your career is a pretty good thing?

Well, OKC was a huge forking success for me. I'm still seeing the vegetarian guy and it is going really well. He casually mentioned last night that he disabled his profile and I'm going to do the same.

I don't know if it's just that I'm used to being treated like shiitake or what, but being with someone genuinely kind and thoughtful is making me feel... I don't know. Really good? I'm happy?!

Yay ashley! So happy you met someone nice! Did your wages situation get resolved? I hope you're doing better financially now.

No, work is still a total mess. Can win 'em all, I guess!

That's great news Ashley! My OKC guy and I have now been for a weekend away and he met my family last week. Everything's still going brilliantly and I am 100% smitten.

Yay! I am also happy to report that I've disabled my account. It felt like the right time. Im so crushing on him and its reciprocal and i don't want to even deal with spam messages or anything. But yeah, its going really well.

Yay AC, sounds pretty good!

On Saturday a Tinder guy asked me for a drink, I proposed to meet on Wed (tomorrow), we discussed the timing and convenient neighborhoods, and I haven't heard back since Sunday. The ball is kinda in his court to respond. Come on guy, you could be my first internet date! Pull it together!

Still haven't heard from this guy, with whom I have 4 facebook friends in common. I guess it's feasible he is planning to check in with me tomorrow to finalize details? But I can see he's been on Tinder in the meantime.

Meanwhile, I set up a date for Friday with a different guy. I hope one of these work!
