I have a friend who is vegetarian and is interested in veganism; she's been asking a lot of questions recently about farming , including the standard questions of whether animals have to die for dairy cheese and eggs to be made, and whether that's still the case in organic, free range farming et cetera. As I've read a lot about veganism and animal rights, have some experience working on farms and have family in the countryside I feel comfortable answering these, but I'd really like to be able to send her some websites or similar which explain how animal farming works so that it's not just me talking to her about it and she can see there's a wider picture. Ideally these resources would have a UK focus as that would be most relevant to her diet!
For additional support The Vegan Society's Vegan Pledge is great. They match people who would like to try veganism for at least a month with a mentor who they can e-mail with any questions they have.

I always recommend Eating Animals. I read it when I was vegetarian, and in a similar position to your friend- I knew that there were reasons I needed to stop eating dairy, and I needed it spelled out for me so that I would have no excuse to continue. Eating Animals totally did that, and did it on a really non-aggressive, non-preachy way that really resonated. I can't recommend it enough!
