Me too! I joined when I was 17 and now I can legally buy booze. In the US, no less.

I'm kind of glad the old boards are gone for this reason.

Because everything I post now is incredibly intelligent and mature, obviously.

This thread was making me feel all warm and fuzzy, and you had to go and ruin it by making me feel so OLD.

I am resurrecting this thread because I have to say, I do not know what I would do without you people.

It is so nice to know that outside the world of forking insanity and back stabbing douchebaggery that is my present life, that there is a little cubby in the universe, a little colorful kitchen decorated with crocheted granny squares and octopods where there are normal, decent, smart, sympathetic, and loving people drinking sweet tea and throwing tots and carob "truffles" at each other and spitting watermelon seeds. It makes my life so much better to know that you all exist. Again, don't know what I would do without you.

I was thinking the other day that it's been almost 10 years since I joined the PPK. That means I've been internet friends with some of you for longer than I've known some of my closest real-life friends.

I'm glad to know y'all.

Right back at you! I was just thinking the other day that I've been on here for 7 years now; to me, it stopped being a "virtual" community a long time ago. When I think of all the important changes and challenges (some good, some bad, some ugly) many of us have gone through and shared and come out the other side of, always in the knowledge that we could come here for support, sympathy, approbation, reassurance, congratulation, I feel a bit verklempt. Also, where else can you safely unload about all the fuckwittage vegans face on a daily basis in a willfully oblivious, bacon-obsessed world? So yeah, thanks for being here. XOXO

Same feels.

The PPK is the only place on the internet where vegans are sane humans.

I remember showing my mother-in-law the pictures from the cupcake book that Isa was posting on livejournal and saying something like, "See, this is why I can be vegan. THEY HAVE CUPCAKES."

PPKers come up in my conversation with my husband and I talk about PPKers like I know them in real life. So now when I say "I know this person who..." he always asks, "do you know them in real life or are they from Isa's message board?"

DOESN'T MATTER. Besides, sometimes there are meetups..... I've been thrilled as peaches when I've met people from PPK in real life.

Yes, I love the PPK so much. When I talk to my husband about our various conversations and escapades, i call you all "my PPK friends"

Me too. Sometimes the person I'm talking to will ask, "Which one of your friends is that?" and then I have to say, "Oh, someone from the internet!"

I had this autocorrect today, and immediately thought of the ppk. I couldn't explain to my mother why I found it so funny.
