You could also phrase that, "Alas, a truly vegan soda."

You can tell it's natural by all the slug holes in the kale!

I'd totally try it, but I'd have pretty low expectations. Like, I'd buy something else to wash my mouth out with afterwards.Real cane sugar, despite being kinda ridiculous to start with, is even funnier here where that's the main source of all our sugar.

I didn't see the word "kale" at first and was so puzzled by everyone's extreme aversion to natural cane sugar in a drink.

Seriously! Why is it like this? Not appetizing.

I'd probably try it, though. It can't be worse than the Jones Brussels sprout soda.

My mom used to get Dr Browns celery soda. it was not good! I'd probably still try this. Maybe when I go back to San Diego since my sister works at whole foods. I'd feel better getting it at a discount.

I don't get savory sodas. I wouldn't eat sugary kale so why would I drink it?

The lemon makes me think it might be more like a slightly peppery lemonade, or maybe a less sweet margarita. I would definitely try it.

It was pretty bad guys. Like sweet yard clippings mingled with dirt.

i mean, i'm not opposed to weird sodas. DRY soda makes cucumber and juniper flavors that i lovelovelove. and i'm really into herbal and, i don't know, vegetal (?) drinks in general, like chartreuse and absinthe and cynar and that fentimans soda with the dandelion. but kale? kale?

ACR, I am with you. I love "dry" sodas and I'm not opposed to vegetal flavors. But sweet kale isn't a good idea to start with. It's just not.

Okay, so, my review:

Imagine 7-Up, but instead of lots of sweetness and a sort of vague lemon/lime flavor, it has lots of sweetness and a vague vegetal flavor. It has the thin mouth feel of real sugar, which is a good thing (HFCS always seems like it makes sodas feel sort of thick to me).

I _guess_ I get kale flavor out of it, but it's not terribly kale-y-- it's just vague and vegetal.

It could _almost_ be satisfying and really refreshing-- a bit more acid might help. There are pictures of lemons on the can, but I didn't get much, if any, lemon. That could have really helped. As it is, it's just a sort of weird sweet fizzy drink with leafy vegetables in it. It wasn't very appealing. I tried to drink enough of the can to acquire a taste for it, but failed.

For reference, my usual favorite sodas are Dr Pepper (favoring Mr Pibb if it's available) and Moxie.

Only in the sense of vegan which is roughly synonymous with joyless.

Shaped perfectly fitted to a human's hand, and with a tab for easy opening with our opposable thumbs. Obvious proof of creationism.
