Truth! I dread your going to work each day. You are a strong lady for facing that b.s. Keep applying! Hopefully something will work out soon! And if not soon, so perfect that it feels like it was worth the wait.

Thank you! My mom is telling me to just quit immediately, even without having something else lined up. She offered to pay my rent for a year if that's how long it takes. I so totally appreciate the support, but I just can't put her in that position. I feel like I have to stick it out until I get another offer.

I am getting seriously organized about job searching though. I've got a spreadsheet going with every resume I've sent and the date, etc.

I'm getting pretty frustrated with companies that want you to upload a resume and then still fill out their stupid application form. The point of the resume is to provide all of that information!

I hate that so much!

I had an interview with the place I volunteer for today, and then a little bit ago I got an email saying they interviewed seven candidates and have narrowed it down to me and one other person, and I'm doing a second interview on Monday.

I AM SO NERVOUS.

I sent my CV to a freelance typing company so I could do something from home to cover my car finance and not panic about the fact that I only have a job for 3 more days! EEK.

Edit: doesn't mean I'll get anything with them though, they have loads of applications by the sounds of it!

yay PP!

Good luck to everyone!

I am waiting on 3 applications right now, but they're all the kind that don't have a contact person or number to follow up with.

Congrats, Paprikapapaya! Good luck everyone!

I had an interview on Monday that I felt good about, and I have a second interview scheduled at the same place for tomorrow afternoon to meet the owner of the company and to take a Basic Studio Manager Test. Um, what? (It's for a studio manager position at an art studio.) The only people I know who have really had to do skills tests in order to get hired are like bike mechanics, so I really have no idea what this test will consist of! Am I going to have to teach an impromptu painting class? Am I going to have to muddle my way through some sort of inventory software that I've never used? Ack!

Anyway, I think it would be a fun (for the most part) job, hopefully less stressful than my current job, and it would also pay almost 40% more than my current job. I also in some way feel like it would be derailing my career a little bit; I think it would be just as much responsibility as my current job overall but somehow it seems less "serious" and is a step away from the museum industry, which is the direction I have been wanting to move in.

I also have an application in at the Chicago History Museum as a Curatorial Assistant and I think I would be awesome at that, and that is more in the direction I want to move in overall. I am worried about that one because they have one of those previously-mentioned, horrible application systems where you have to re-enter all your info on their website as well as submit your resume, which includes having to answer several specific questions each in the space of a tweet, with no room for nuance, so I don't think I was able to sell myself as well through their submission site as I was in my cover letter, and what if they don't even read it even though I did such a good job of explaining why my background is exactly what they're looking for? Good news is that I saw that they just removed the job posting today- I wasn't sure how long to expect them to take to stop accepting applications, since big cultural institutions like that generally have such a long application window compared to the types of companies I'm used to working with.

I also saw a posting today with another organization that I previously applied to, for a position that I would be even better suited for, so I know what I will be doing with my evening!
