I checked out a bit last week, but today I found that the city and county had both added a crepe ton of new positions. I put in three applications today, including one where I had to completely rewrite my resume to a non-chronological format. It's a stretch, but the other two should be solid. Seven more to go... is it too much to ask to get an interview for one of them? Please?

Nine applications in today. Nine! All government jobs. Tomorrow I conquer the private sector.

Good luck!! Wishing you interviews!

I'm basically working two jobs right now and I'm wearing myself out pretty fast. I'm still doing 8-5 at my crappy old job and then either going over to my new office after work or bringing work home. It's exhausting. My last day at my old job is Feb 21, and then I'll finally be all in one place again!

Wednesday I get to start training my replacement, who apparently has no industry experience. Talk about throwing someone to the wolves.

Good luck, m'toes!

I spent half of the weekend revising my CV. It sucked. I applied to three jobs yesterday (one of them was in Glasgow!). Two were through agencies, so it was hard to personalise my cover letter (actually, one of them didn't even ask for one). The other one was government-ish, and they have a really crappy application system (you basically only get to talk about your current position in less than 1,000 characters, the other ones are just in a list, and you can't attach a CV). I'm not hopeful about that one, but at least I tried. And I'm applying for one at the uni tonight. I've also sent my revised CV to the agency that got me this job, so hopefully she'll be able to find something for me.

Not having a job is starting to suck. It's nice to have lots of time for blogging and trying to get my business of the ground (and go to the gym) but I'm burning through my savings a bit quicker than I'd hoped. Need to find something part-time soon so I don't spunk them all!

I've interviewed at four different wards at the local hospital. I know which one I would rather work at, but a lot depends on where I can get the salary I want. This whole process is exciting and scary! I've always worked unskilled jobs before, where I've been happy to get a job and just taken whatever pay I've got.

The offer I got from the ward that was number one on my list was 1000 SEK below my personal minimum. Not negotiable. I'm not taking it.

I just applied for a job with my old company. Would not involve contact with the douchey ex-boss type person at all, would get me experience in the direction I'm trying to head, and pays what I need (barely.) Paprikapapaya, please send me good "get re-employed by the company that laid you off" vibes, will ya?

The conversation Went like this (except in Swedish, and more like adults talking to each other than 7-year olds):

Me: I Think this job seems great, but it depends on whether we can agree on a salary.

Her: Yeah, I've considered that, and I can offer you X.

Me: That's not enough. My personal limit is x+1000.

Her: Sorry, that's all I can offer. Good luck out there!

Me: OKthnxbye!

That's a shame, amonik, but at least you know what your minimum is and can stick to it. I hope you find something more suitable soon!

That's brilliant! I remember all your posts about your old job and it is lovely to see you so happy now.

I got some temp work at last! It's been almost 2 months I've been out of work and I start a 2 week assignment tomorrow. Only 2 weeks but maybe something will come of it.

Fingers crossed they are nice to temps and not horrible like some places I've been. But even if they suck, YAY cash!

I'm part-time at my current job, and a big fundraiser/event is coming up in May. I work for a very small operation, and I'm the point person for most of the work related to this event. Right now is the calm before the storm, but it's going to get a lot busier soon. I love my job but the hours are limited and I need a full time job. A potential lead has popped up and I'm trying to figure out how to proceed. I know that if I were to get a new job, the standard 2 or even 3 weeks notice would be inadequate... I'd really need to stay on in some capacity until the event is over.

How do you work out the transition from one job to another? Has anyone ever asked to work 3-4 days a week at a new job for a few months? If so, at what point do you ask your potential new employer about this possibility?
