God, when I work at 5am I shower the night before, set six alarms starting at 4 and get out of bed at 4:45. Then I take 5 minutes to brush my teeth, put some clothes on and stumble out the door. I always fantasize about waking up at 4 and watching tv/having breakfast to wake up slowly before work, but it hasn't happened yet.

i find it so hard to have a morning routine!! i've been trying to incorporate a lot of what y'all were talking about-- like putting the kettle on right away (on a low heat), then going about my business either taking a shower or walking my pup. it's hard because i don't always need to wash my hair or shave my legs or feel like putting on make-up or pack a lunch or want to eat breakfast....
i suppose generally i set the alarm for 7, then hit the snooze until 7:20.... i used to have a proper alarm clock that was set 10min fast (which ALWAYS fools me), but that broke a while ago and i've been using my phone since and it's become habit.
i've determined that it definitely takes 10min for me to get dressed. and i generally take 20min to walk the pup in the mornings.... i guess the routine just revolves around that!
i'm impressed that y'all even have pooping integrated into the whole thing! but i guess it wouldn't be theppk without it!!

I set my alarm for at least a half hour before I need to get up, then I lay around while snooze alarms happen, which generally wakes me up enough to get up. Then I throw on a hoodie and make a cup of tea. This past year, I also let the dog out and fed him, but now that he doesn't live with me, that doesn't happen anymore.
Then I poop. Then I shower and get on with things.

wow! you guys have such.. regular schedules. I was working weird forking hours all last semester so I was getting up at 4 half the week to get a few hours of (money-earning) work in before my 9am classes started (which would mean I would get less studio work done those days), but if I wasn't doing that it went like:
5:30 get up, stumble immediately in to shower 5:45 make coffee, drink mug, put remainder in thermos 6:00 dick around for a few minutes with my stuff, figuring out what I actually need to haul around 6:15 leave to walk to studio 6:40 arrive at studio, make+eat instant oatmeal 6:50-8:50 do studio work 8:50 make 3rd cup of coffee, begin day of classes + work
(12:30am stumble home, eat whatever is around and easy in the apartment, pass out by 1:20am and start again)

We actually did this the other day at school to practise (practice?) breaking down a process into steps and constructed the ultimate morning routine. It was nothing like mine. Mine is like this, on an ideal morning where I actually get up on time and the kid doesn't wake up too early:
6 o'clock the alarm goes off and I get up. I often wake up earlier which I like better. Go to bathroom, wash and put on scent. Get dressed. Get newspaper. Make breakfast (including tea) and pack lunch and snacks for the day. Eat breakfast and take medicine, look through paper. Make gruel for R. Wake R up and feed him. Change diaper and dress R. Brush teeth, do hair and makeup. Try to get R to go along with brushing teeth, fail. Dress R in outdoor clothes and put him in his stroller. Put on my own outdoor stuff and check that I have everything. Go to daycare and leave R. Go to college. Put lunch in the fridge in the students' lunch room. Check e-mail and other computer stuff before class starts or I start doing work on my own.
The goal is to be at school at 8 o'clock (it's only a 12-minute walk) but if I'm late it's not a big deal since class usually starts at 9. Also, now that R is in daycare I sometimes just stay home and study - it's great to not have to bring all that stuff with me, eat out of a plastic box and all that.

Usually it's get up late then rush around, skip breakfast and run to the bus.
Not good.

I usually only have two days a week that I have to wake up at a certain time for, so on those days, my routine looks like this:
7 am: Wake up and pee, or check emails on phone if I'm really sleepy or comfy 7:05 am: Get up if I'm not already out of bed and pee. Eat a bowl of cereal and mess around checking FB/emails on my phone 7:15 am: Start getting ready. Brush teeth, put on clothes, accessories, etc. 7:30 am: Out the door for my drive to class. Usually it takes me about 30 minutes for my commute in the mornings. That gets reduced to like 15 during non rush hour times.
Days I don't have a set time to get up my routine is that I wake up, pee, go on the internet and check FB, emails, and PPK. Eat cereal and maybe have a cup of tea/coffee/warm cider. Dick around on internet indefinitely. Feel guilty because I should be studying.
