...they're endangered!

Quote:
Pubic lice, the crab-shaped insects that have dwelled in human groins since the beginning of history, are disappearing. Doctors say bikini waxing may be the reason.

Waning infestations of the bloodsuckers have been linked by doctors to pubic depilation, especially a technique popularized in the 1990s by a Manhattan salon run by seven Brazilian sisters. More than 80 percent of college students in the U.S. remove all or some of their pubic hair -- part of a trend that’s increasing in western countries. In Australia, Sydney’s main sexual health clinic hasn’t seen a woman with pubic lice since 2008 and male cases have fallen 80 percent from about 100 a decade ago.

So are we saying its unvegan to wax and deprive these poor animals of their warm, furry habitat?

Yep. Get fuzzy and get infested. It's the natural way to live.

Totally not high up on my list of concerns.

I've done my best to create a hospitable ecosystem, but the little buggers have stayed away.

Yeah, they couldn't have a more cozy home than mine... Yet... Not one RSVP!

I went au natural for the past 3 years down there and not a single critter. But it could be the lack of intercourse or any sexual contact that is the problem. I vow to go and spread my legs to all in the hope of saving the creature from extinction.

My "line" for veganism is if an animal (non-human or human) is actively doing something to my body without my consent, such as eating/attacking me or taking up residence in/on me. Once that's going on, I'm acting in self-defense.

But if you welcome them in, you can give them a home and help promote biodiversity.

But I think this would require that I never have sex again.

You are all bad vegans unless you grow out your pubes and fork as many people as you can!

(I'm kidding. Just in case someone didn't get it, I don't want to be the one who tricked you into contracting an std. Be responsible, use protection, only have sex if you really want to and feel safe and stuff, inviting parasites to live off you is not part of the vegan dream!)

Hey, I can promote biodiversity. I'm growing a bed of kale down there.

I'm sorry, but I may be contributing to the loss of a species and I have no remorse.

I have to admit that when I posted that originally I wasn't really expecting to hear many details about people's, uh, personal hair choices.

Well, a little latex isn't protecting you from crabs. Jussaying, condoms aren't worn like diapers.

I know, I know... I still have my Old World boundaries up. I'm not quite used to this brave new world of extreme sharing.

i was hoping to hear more about people's personal lice choices--like, what they've named them and whether they think of them as pets or guests. maybe some baby pictures.
