Well, like I said I didn't find it spicy, on a scale of 1 to 10, I'd probably put it about 2 for spicy hotness. I've only had something too spicy hot for me a couple times in my life, once at a Thai restaurant where I found the food tasty but couldn't eat it without drinking tons of water to cool me off. In that case, my taste buds weren't overwhelmed.

I'm a wuss! My dad is so ashamed and wonders where he went wrong. My dad loved the spicy food when he was in Thailand. The only time he ever had food too hot was at an Indian restaurant in London where he kept sending food back because it wasn't spicy enough. They finally gave him spicy!

LW, i'm a kitten when it comes to spicy stuff too so it'll probably kill my taste buds as well. The corn salsa is kind of iffy for me in that respect. Hopefully I can get a sample.

I think the tofu is spicier than that salsa. I'm ok with small amounts that salsa as long as I have a mountain of guac.

If they won't give a sample, ask for it on the side. I always get my guac and lettuce on the side so I can reheat later.

Well if you didn't get exposed to spicy food as a child, I think? that is where your tolerance is built. Nothing you can do as an adult.

I love spicy food and generally think the hotter the better but I know not everyone is built the same.

I found it surprisingly spicy and flavorful in a good way. The veggie burrito/bowl was a pretty bland meal (aside from adding spicy salsa/hot sauce). It even got so I was sick of going to Chipotle because it just tastes exactly the same every time. So to me the slight spiciness and flavor of the sofritas was a very welcome variation.

I get the corn salsa every time, and most of the time don't find it spicy. Maybe one out of ten times though something is happening that makes my meal crazy hot, but I've never known what it was. I always assumed they didn't chop the jalapenos small enough that day or had extra spicy ones or something.

We didn't have spicy food ever as kids, but my brother is something of a hot sauce aficionado these days (seeking out the ones with "death" in the name), and I am still a spice wuss.

I was surprised that even the airport Chipotles were carrying Sofritas when we flew in December. A very pleasant surprise.

so awesome, joyfulgirl! i tried them for the first time a few weeks ago and i'm in love. i'm really particular when it comes to vegan eats outside of the home (i'm a tough critic), and i must say, i found the sofritas to be absolutely spot on in every way. may you enjoy them super soon!!!

They tested a vegan strip a few years back (Gardein) but it seemed not to catch on. I hope the tofu does though!

Ugh! That whole thing pissed me off. They only had it at random locations, and oftentimes never had signage or menus saying that they had it. And then they wonder why it didn't do well!

I had the Gardein once in NYC and it was really good. But yes, I'm suspicious that they won't really give the tofu a fair shot since it seems like they didn't market the Gardein too well.

Chipotle seems not to label things very well, and the Gardein strips do look a lot like real chicken. I wonder how many people passed them by not knowing what they were. Tofu has the benefit of actually really looking like tofu. Maybe more people would recognize what it is and order it?

I didn't think it looked too much like tofu. I was surprised when I ordered it and they scooped out of the pan that I thought was some sort of ground meat.

My Chipotle didn't have any tofu. I am sulking over this.

You know, one of the best things about this for me, is that Chipotle doesn't use GMOs, so it will hopefully shut up a lot of people who think that all soy is automatically GMO. Not that it matters, but I find that is one of the big arguments I hear from people as to why they won't eat more tofu etc.

I tried Chipotle for the first time recently and LOVED it! There's no tofu there yet though. I got a yummiful bowl with beans, rice, guac and other fixins' and the franchise is nice and close to me--it's in the same neighborhood mall where I run most of my errands, so I have the opportunity to go often.

I heard through the grapevine that NYC Chipotles get the tofu Monday.

Not sure if it's been mentioned yet, but Chipotle started phasing out the bacon in the pinto beans late last year (and it may well be true now across the country, but you'll probably want to double check with your location):

I had the sofritas today in a burrito; I thought it was really good! They had little sample cups out, so I hope a lot of people tried and liked it.

I got the sofritas today at chipotle in midtown and it was great! The shredded bits blend right in with the rest of your mix. Thank you chipotle! Now to get omni's to order it....

I got it too. I was so excited about the tofu I forgot to get the peppers and onions.
