Coming from Maxim, this is neither shocking nor surprising. But that doesn't make it suck any less.

Agghhhhh I dislike this article. And now I feel bad about being vaguely groomed half the time, I feel like I'm not a real feminist. This is such a mind-fork.

What is the equivalent of this for men? Woman hating mannist? I've never had the privilege of meeting one of these man haters, perhaps because they are a creation of the media and quite possibly Maxim. I mean, you know Hothead Paisan was satire, right?

This is what I was thinking. No man in today's society can really take that advice seriously.

My eldest sister is one, "all men are mustards" was the mantra I grew up hearing... when she was single that was, when she was in a relationship she was strangely less bitter. She's an evil nutter though, I'm not sure she even counts as human never mind a woman.

I'm sure there are some women who really dislike men out there. However, the man hating feminist is such a stereotype that you'd think they were hanging out on street corners with their cleavers and hacking at cucumbers relentlessly whenever a man walks by.
I also think people often throw out the 'i hate such and such' when frustrated that doesn't really apply. Plenty of people on the ppk will say they 'hate people' but I think that is just a generalization and I wouldn't actually call them 'people hating vegans' or something.

Although perhaps I will start.

I know a fair number of feminists who are androphobic (like actually AFRAID of men), but the women I know who really HATE men are mostly NOT feminists.

I do know a lot of women (both feminist and not) who are really obnoxious to men, though...and, ironically, the women I know who are most likely to treat men like crepe are HETEROSEXUAL women. It's the same way with heterosexual men; they seem to be way more likely to treat women like crepe than gay men. What's up with that, straight people? Aren't you supposed to LIKE the opposite gender? (I...better go back to the "things that confuse you" thread now.)

Ditto on the androphobia. Before I ID'ed as trans/queer I was actually a little nervous around men; it's like, if you are in the role of het woman, you are supposed to be scared of the opposite sex. Now, from the outside looking in, I'm all 'wait, WHAT?' at the whole thing. But maybe it's less an issue of which sexuality/gender and more how secure you are in it. I don't know.

Reading the article itself, I really wanted it to be like some sort of romantic comedy plot to get hetero gents listen. "Man, I pretended to be interested and found out I actually AM interested!" Then I remembered it was Maxim.

Is the man-hating feminist smoking? I didn't know that was part of the stereotype.

this cracks me up. can this stereotypical crepe EVER be put to bed? Can we maybe move on, please? Or is there nothing else sleazy/dopey/drooley/even-the-tiniest-bit-more-interesting that they can spend page space on? How about just some pretty pictures of bodacious ta-tas?
