Words do not express how much I love this!!! I love the photo of the dog conked out and 'swaddled'. Too funny.

The one with the headband did it for me; I love these people (and their baby)!

i loved those pictures when i first saw them on buzzfeed, but the article there said the couple were kind of making fun of people who feel that way about their dogs, whereas i would have assumed they were (i'd say rightly) making fun of people who stage these kinds of shoots for their babies. it sucked a lot of the joy out of it for me. and then they said they're hoping/trying to have a "real" baby, and then i said "feh" and took a quiz about ideal cat BFFs, and it said i should roll with pusheen, and then everything was great again.

That was totally how I read them, too!

Meh. The creator's intention is only one part of the picture - once something's out there, it's up for grabs, interpretation-wise! (We love Pusheen; our younger cat, Gus, is a dead ringer for her/him!)

Do we think that Boo would sit for an Anne Geddes inspired shoot? I think it's worth a shot!

There's an old Geddes thread floating around that contains photos of M. Bran as a sack baby.

Dooooo iiiiiiiitt! Make the Captain happy!

(Ok, that sounds like a euphemism, but it's not.)

It does, and it is now my new favorite euphemism!

That anne geddes picture is disturbing, not least of all because the baby is facing the wrong direction - that's gonna cause some problems on the way out.

Not to mention it's maybe 10-11 months gestation at this point. Look how thin this woman's skin has been stretched by this ginormous monster baby; you can see right through it!!! SOMEONE CALL THE DRUDGE REPORT

"what if your parents hadn't had you?!?"
"then I guess you'd have to find some other poor crasshole to harangue."

(don't know why I'm a crasshole in my answer but I like it, so I stand by it)

Saw my ex today for the first time since the breakup and resolved a few things. I told him that although I didn't regret being with him and I loved him/still love him, part of me wishes I hadn't gone through the past year and a half if he knew he wanted kids. He clarified that although he was truly ambivalent when we first got together, it was only deep into our relationship that he began to realize that he really did want to be a parent and how important that was to him. Although that doesn't change our current situation, which still sucks, I felt a lot better that it wasn't something he deliberately tried to ignore for the sake of being with me, and that me being honest about not having kids from the start wasn't for naught.

I still really wish things had turned out different, but as important as my feelings about not having kids are to me, I know I have to respect that his feelings are equally important to him. I'm gonna miss being his girlfriend! I just have to have faith that there are other guys out there whose values are more closely aligned with mine who will also bring me just as much laughter, happiness, and comfort as he did. I know they're out there, it's just tough at times like this to remember that!

I thought of this thread when I was at a vegan potluck the other day and I overheard someone having a conversation with a preteen about people who don't want kids, and saying that probably most people who don't want kids didn't have good parents and don't believe they can be good parents but maybe if they tried it they actually would like parenting. Which...maybe there are a few cases where that's true but also maybe people can just want different things in their life than you do, and as someone who does want kids, I just do not understand what we have to gain by convincing people who don't want kids or are ambivalent about them to have them! It's not like we have a lack of humans in this world.

something that i think about that rubs me the wrong way was when i was at the gyno many years ago the doctor said 'well, how about if your boyfriend wants kids?'. I told her that i would not have a child just to keep a guy because - hello this never works. i thought this was totally not cool and switched to a new doc right away. this could have been the same doc who thought i partied and stuff because i had tattoos and like going to concerts...
