On a posi note - all ppkers seem more or less reasonable compared to springs. So if anyone was left with unhappy "how do I know if I should smile or not?" or "you left a passive aggressive note!" or "you only tip 13% for bad service?!" type feelings, we can all at least reflect on the fact that none of us is Springs1, and feel grateful and relieved.

Also, typing "not the servers fault" is like reading the necronomicon to summon springs1.

This seems an across the world experience... I find a lot of vegetarians and vegans open restaurants not because they have a talent/desire for hospitality, but because they want to "Share veg food, save the world" etc etc. I've had some just... atrocious, awful service.. and some just generally unhelpful service - in most cases, I think it's just lack of serious hospitality training. I actually don't think I've *ever* had excellent service in a solely veg restaurant. The fact that there isn't an "Atmosphere" set up for success with tablecloths, etc might have something to do with it too. It's much more casual.

I took my omni sister to The Sprout yesterday. I might have had to resort to emotional blackmail to get her there because she's afraid of most vegetables and I think she thought they would bring out a head of cabbage and tell her to eat it. She ended up ordering a salad she liked and I let her taste a bit of my tempeh burger, which she really liked and will order next time.

She made a comment about our waitress being "so hippie!" and I thought she meant it in a judgemental way. She said it again later, and I was like, "I don't shave and I reek of patchouli, I can't really judge anyone as being so hippie". And she replied "I meant it in a good way! More people should be like that!"

It was nice, especially after the last time I went with a group of friends who were making fun of her.

I can't stop reading! I feel bad for the other people on the board, they seem quite nice and sane, and s/he just came out swinging. And it was hilarious when, on a cooking board s/he says that restaurant food tastes better than anyone's home cooking. And asks what the "GOP" is..... It just keeps giving and giving.

Thank you for posting this, I'm both incredulous and incredibly entertained.

I wonder if the ppk has an operative in Metairie or New Orleans who works in the restaurant business. I wonder what waitstaff says when she walks into a place. Surely they all know her by the 4 sides of ranch, 2 mayo, no pickles, sub fries, I ****HATE***** KETCHUP YOU *****LIAR**** etc. she's got to have a nickname in real life restaurants.

She has so many requirements that it would be hard to come up with a short n sweet nickname though. L'il Miss Condiments maybe. Or Queen Pickypants.

Wow, apparently the PPK has more snark than other places on the internet. They seem to take her seriouslyish there.

The whole world is lazy save for her. I find that very interesting.

I won't join that board just to argue with her but tipping, in the US of A, is not voluntary. It's part of what you have to pay to be waited on.

Angelina, LOVE your replies to her.

That members of that forum really did try to be accommodating for Springs, and she continues to be extremely abrasive. And yeah, SO happy we didn't have to deal with all the giant font and such.

Hey, Angelina, wanna say something about mostly patronizing buffets? Maybe she needs self-serve? Or rather, I'd like to know why she doesn't like buffets.

eta- and maybe something about being entitled? Because she mentions that, but I want to know how she can turn that around if its called out on her. Maybe she should be a politician.

My takeaways from this thread:
1. I'm going to tip all servers extra, to balance out the jerks.
2. New sig.

How about tipping at coffee houses, hair salons, esthetician, dog groomers etc, how much do you all generally tip? I am always confused. If I buy a $4 latte, I used to put an extra dollar in the tip jar. But that is way more than 20%. What if the dog groomer is the business owner, do you tip then? Or only if they go above and beyond if it's their own business? I just don't know and when I see the tip line printed out on my receipt it makes me feel anxious when I don't know what is customary. I know it sounds dumb. Probably just do 20% everywhere so I don't have to second guess it. Interest to hear what you all think (hope I am not derailing this thread too much).
