it makes me wanna go back and rewatch supersize me to see what nutritional advice she was rolling her eyes at. i watched it so long ago before i was vegan so i have no memory of her other than her wrinkling up her nose at his idea (cant say i blame her on that end!)

The best comment I read about this was on vegan.com's FB page. One of his group quoted Jameison as rehasing the tired old BS of voiceferous public ex-vegans of "I listened to my body and honord what it had to say". His reply to that sentiment was "I listened to my body and it thanked me for being vegan"

I think that is exactly it. My personal theory is that at some level they know their decision is lame and by blogging about it they distract themselves from that.

Somebody tried that stunt on a speaker I was listening to yesterday. It was Mike Tidwell, a big shot enivornmentalist.

Some dude from the audience brought up a farmer in Virginia Michael Pollan described and asked Tidwell, several times, "do you see a world where meat consumption has a place". This was after Tidwell illustrated that in addition to transportation reform, meatless diets were the only effective moves for reducing global warming.

Based on other things said, I think Tidwell correctly saw it as a test question, to see if he "is one of us or one of THEM" and he didn't take the bait.

As someone who has taken several animal-centered courses on nutrition, it's always surprising to me that there are so many "experts" spreading very blatant disinformation regarding nutrition science. There are heaps and heaps of books out there giving a basic explanation about metabolism, food digestion/absorption, etc, and even though most of the information has an omniovore's bias, I have never encountered anything that directly invalidated my vegan diet.

I've had that observation too. Most people would not dream of talking about something they do not know anything about with subjects like physics, automotive mechanics, etc............but with nutrition everyone becomes a medieval philosopher.

I just saw a link to a news story that proves (with science!) that all the comments everywhere suck. Generally I think that science reporting blows and gets things wrong but I can't disagree.
