And a ppker is anonymously quoted:

Quote:
[Isa's] site has grown, along with what could be called an empire of branded merchandise and vegan cookbooks, the latest of which (“Isa Does It”) will be released in October. In a nod to the Internet days of yore, the PPK site hosts a forum, on which a user playfully mentioned Thug Kitchen in April: “I’ve been enjoying the shiitake out of this blog, recently, bisques.”

Are they saying this forum is, like, ironic or something? A nod to internet days of yore, wth.

An empire of branded merchandise? Now I'm trying to picture random objects with the ppk logo on them.

I have met people who didn't really use the internet before facebook started who tell me that they don't understand how forums work.

i'm totally in this for the irony. every time i post something i'm like, "pfft, gawd, forums." and then i adjust my wayfarers and turn up "more than words" on my JammyPack.

Yes, one of my friends is like this. She had never even heard the term forum in regards to the internet until I mentioned it one day. She looked confused and asked what a forum was. I said, "You know, like a message board? Bulletin board?" and she just stared at me blankly, which made me think that I had probably wasted way too much of my life online.

Yeah, I think some people just think that forums are a thing of the past, when that's really not true. Plenty of sites still run forums and even make new ones.

But anyway, that was a cool article that didn't mention plant based or vegans being crassholes or anything!

I went to a school where alumni still run a server just to support Rob Kolstad's notesfiles. That'll probably be greek to you youngins, but It was a unix-based, text only system that was a heck of a lot easier to keep up with new posts than anything I've seen since. The internet == fb, pffff

But I love the filtered quote.

There are also what, nine cookbooks from Isa and/or Terry? And they're all amazing and necessary. It hardly rises to a Moosewood level of turnout.

Squee! I met the Vegan Black Metal Chef at Denver VegFest and got a t-shirt a couple weeks ago :D

Agree, Isa/Terry cookbooks are very necessary. I have 4 and I need the rest.

How will you ever buy a private island without selling PPK lunch boxes?
