I wish her all the best! La Dolce Vegan was the first vegan cookbook I got. My mom makes the chocolate walnut loaf in there to wow omnis and it's never failed.

I wish her all the best and support and a speedy recovery. Been thinking about her since I read this yesterday. She is so positive and such a great role model.

<3 Sarah. Her cookbooks made me a vegan! Her influence was the first step in making me the vegan I am today! I cooked from Garden of Vegan and How It All Vegan exclusively for the first eighteen months of my veganness and ate very happily and her recipe preambles/writings always put a smile on my face--she has a great sense of fun.

Sending her my most positive vibes, love and infinite hugs. <3 <3 <3.

Aw, man, that sucks. Like several others, How It All Vegan was my first vegan cookbook (I bought it almost 10 years ago to the day, today), and it helped me become and stay vegan. I wish her a speedy recovery and many years of vegan awesomeness to come.

I heard on Twitter and sent her a message. I also posted about it on my Facebook page asking people to send her best wishes and prayers. Such a shame. Hopefully, she'll come through just fine.

Wishing her all the best. I hadn't followed her blog before, but I definitely will now. I think it's great that she's being so open about this.

Sarah's books are some of my favorites for her commentary alone. She comes across as a very positive person and a great spokesperson for veganism. Seeing this thread made me very sad.

I read this this morning and I was so bummed out today, and cracked out La Dolce Vegan to make fried chicken. She's my vegan role model!

i looked up her cookbooks on amazon cause like i said i dont really know who she is but the titles sounded familiar and now that i see them i feel like they were the first vegan cookbooks that were widely available.

maybe it's because they are so bright colored and eye catching but i remember seeing her books in a lot of places. they were probably the first vegan cookbooks i ever saw.

"How It All Vegan" was the first vegan cookbook I ever looked at too... I actually checked it out of the library and ended up buying a copy later. Anyway, I am sending good vibes in her direction! I hope she comes through this OK!

Could we send cards to her store?

Garden of Vegan was the first vegan cookbook I bought. I loved it.

That's what I was thinking too!
It would be so cool if she were innundated with loving cards of good wishes.

Hooray!

Me too! I wanted to think of something less invasive than sending her an email (she's probably gotten hundreds!)/going to her store and giving her a hug, so I emailed her husband, who does my tattoos. Cards sound great!

Anybody else been keeping up with her blog? She has to get a mastectomy. She keeps writing about how her feminist self disagrees with all the pink ribbon propaganda. I love her perspective.

Sadface, I am just seeing this now. How it all vegan was my first vegan cookbook too. I still make zucchini delight once a week! From now on it will always be in her honor. Def going to send a card, Sarah is such a great positive person. Her facebook and instagram posts always light up my day.

I didn't even bother reading the comments and from the sounds of it that was a good choice.

One day I'll make it to Canada to visit the store and maybe even get a tattoo by her husband at Tattoo Zoo! That would be an awesome vacation.

It sounds like she's doing pretty good. They're still calling for chemo (most likely), but it hasn't really spread.
