This is so sad. Condolences and hugs to everyone who knew her. It sounds like she was a really amazing person.

:( such sadness, having someone taken away from you is always hard, especially when it is unexpected.

I'm not ready for this thread to be done yet (I had to search to even find it). Even though I didn't know Calcy well, I miss her and have been super saddened by her death. We used to gchat when I was in limbo between NOLA and PDX, and I'm glad google archived those, cuz I was able to bring them all up to reread. Mostly, I feel sad because I know how it feels to lose someone I care deeply about so when my friends lose close friends, I sorta go into a post tramautic mourning period where my feelings over my own losses are very raw again. I'm not sure if that even translates well, but I feel sad.

I love you PPK people.

xoxo

This is so, so sad. I had no idea until I saw this thread pop up again. I'm so sorry for everyone who knew and loved her.

Funeral today. People are wearing flipflops and Amy pedicures in her honor.

Also, we've raised about $800 for her mom. And I will continue to accept donations even after this. I haven't put together the card yet, because I'm in NYC without a printer or anything, but I will give her mom $1000 today and explain where it's from, then send the card a little later. Thank you, guys.

I plan on drinking a Dr. Pepper in her honor! It can't be gas station DrP, but it'll have to do. Cheers, calcy! <3 <3 <3

Thank you for doing this, and for letting her mom know how many people (some complete strangers on the internet) cared enough about Amy to want to do something to show how sorry we are. Hang in there on what I'm sure will be a very difficult day. XOXOXO

Yes, I mourn doubly for my friends who are hurting. I hate it when people hurt and I can't help make it stop.

Kittee, I know you're super busy, but let me know if you want to get together and raise a glass and talk about Amy.

I am late to this, as I've been off the PPK for a bit... I'm so, so sorry to all you who knew Calcy. I knew her only a little from her board presence, but she was a formidable and admirable part of these boards, someone I looked up to and appreciated for what she brought to the community. I am so deeply sorry for the loss of all of us on the PPK, and especially for those of you who knew her more closely.

This is so heartbreaking.

I haven't been on the internet a lot recently, so I only just found out via Facebook. I didn't know Amy in person, but she made me feel really special on here and everywhere else I interacted with her. I'll definitely miss her sense of humor.

It is so, so hard and heartbreaking losing someone you love, especially suddenly, and I'm sorry her friends, family, students, and anyone whose lives she touched are going through the loss of this awesome person.

I just saw this and am so saddened. Like many, I only knew her PPK presence, and I'm a quiet member these days so we hadn't interacted in some time. But she was a powerfully important presence when I first went vegan and joined the boards, and it is so clear to see the widespread impact that she has had on so many communities of people. Cheers to Calcy, and comfort to all in her life who will miss her horribly.

I just saw this too. Calcy will be missed, but remembered too; she made a difference. My condolences to her family and friends.

Oh my. I can't believe it. I also only knew her here, but her presence was so strong and lovely. My thoughts are with all who knew her

This is so sad and shocking and sudden. I only knew calcuhater on the PPK, but my heart goes out to all her friends, family, and students.
