I never met her in person, but she was the one who gave me my first custom subnick after my very first post on the old boards, and I will always remember and love her for that, and for just being a cool person. I'm so sorry to everyone who is dealing with the loss of such an awesome friend.

I only knew Amy from the boards but I always valued the experiences and perspectives she shared. I am so shocked and sorry to read this. Sending love and warm wishes to Amy's friends and family and students. This is truly a devastating loss to our world.

I never knew Calcy in person, but her death has been weighing heavily on me since I found out. She was a badass with compassion. The PPK won't be the same without her.

I'm.... I don't even know. How terribly sad. Last night I saw something SoS posted on Instagram and thought, I haven't seen (online) calcuhater in a while, so I went over to her Instagram and loved her All Hail the Queen manicure. I just, what a shock. Huge hugs to everyone.

Amy was truly the best. I'm feeling pretty bummed right now because even though we lived in the same city and IMed all the time, I hadn't actually hung out with her in 2 years! (I'm really hope I'm misremembering...) I was just looking through old IMs and chats to try and figure out when we last hung out. I didn't realize it had been that long. We were just both super busy and when we weren't busy we were too lazy to make the effort to hang out. Actually that's one of the things I loved about her. We could make plans, but if one of us didn't feel like going at the last minute, it was totally ok. But still, I wish I'd seen her more recently. The last thing we chatted about was Arrested Development.

Amy was one of the founders of Regretsgiving along with mumbles and eppy, a tradition that we've kept up since 2006. It won't be the same without her. She made the best cranberry relish. I have a lot of food based memories of Amy. I guess that probably goes for all my friends who I met through PPK/veganism. The #26 bowl at Lan was a favorite of hers and I remember when we both got really into making this nooch sauce dry mix from Vegweb, waffle brunch at pine box, mac n wings at foodswings.

Another great thing about her is that she was always down to help talk me through any problems I was having and I could always count on her to give an honest answer. I really looked up to her in that way. She was totally comfortable saying what was on her mind.

I've been thinking about Amy non-stop since I found out and I just want to give everyone who misses her a big hug and especially Isa, her mom and Georgia.

Here's a picture of seitan wings at Watercourse. We were always talking about moving to Denver.

Oh! And I wanted to mention one of my favorite Amy stories. I was IMing with her a few years ago and complaining about how much my period sucked. I think I wrote a long rant about it. So, she doesn't IM back right away and then later I find out that one of her students (a boy!) was using her computer at the time! Ha! I think she still kept in touch with him after he graduated, so she'd tell me whenever she saw him.

Haha! That's an awesome story. Thank you for sharing your memories about calcuhater. I'm daydreaming of wing sauce mac and cheese and Dr. Pepper after reading this thread.
