If you don't love cliantro, you might be able to blame it on genetics! You're still wrong, but at least it's out of your hands.

I hatehatehated cilantro and it tasted really soapy to me, then one day it didn't and I grew out of it - there is hope! Now I love the stuff.

I'm ok with it as long as it is pulverized to death, a la Chimichurri.

I don't even know what it means for something to taste soapy. I guess I haven't ever tasted soap...?

I used to eat these as a kid, so I know the taste of soap oh so well.

BUT. I do not think cilantro tastes even remotely like soap! So I must be one of the fancy people with fancy tastebuds.

I never thought it tasted soapy, but I still hated it until I was 19-20. Now I think it's the best.

I used to hate it with a fiery passion and thought it tasted like soap...now I can eat it. I prefer it in Indian food vs Mexican food, but I can still do it. Sometimes I just reduce the amounts called for if I'm feeling like I might not like it in a certain dish.

I loved loved loved floral gums. I wish someone would make them without gelatin. I can't get them here but I saw them in a candy store in Canmore a few years ago and gazed lovingly at the jar.

I love cilantro - it's delicious. Some would say it is us (cilantro-lovers) who were born wrong.

I can't roll my tongue though. Genetics pfft.

sometimes i think the cilantro at the grocery store smells like a wet dog. i don't know where that places me on the evolutionary spectrum. and i'm not telling my mom that some of you thought it tasted like soap and then learned to love it, because she'll just keep putting it in things even though she hates it and then calling me to tell me that she ate some cilantro and hated it. you can't curl your tongue, either, mom. shake it off.

Oh cilantro definitely will often smell like wet dog at a grocery store for sure, but it has nothing to do with the plant itself, that's just the smell of rotting stems/leaves. Cilantro is so delicate, it rots easy. All greens will smell like that if left nasty for long enough though.

Yeah, I don't think it tastes soapy, but I hate it with an unrelenting passion. It just tastes...gross, like chemicals or some other cleaning product that is not soap?
