Wow, 8ball - that is pretty damn shitty; sorry you and your mister are dealing with that noise. Strictly in terms of today, getting an unexpected and (apparently) bonus period nine days ahead of schedule isn't particularly cool or welcome. This week has been fairly traumatizing, and I haven't done anywhere near as much reading as I should/wanted to have done, so cramps and...er, "enhanced" emotions aren't necessarily the best way to cap things off. At least we're snowed in, have lots of food, booze, and ibuprofen on hand, and don't have to go anywhere until Monday morning.

8ball, how are you feeling now?

I got probably a collective 2 hours sleep last night, in 15-45 min chunks. So today I was tired, nauseous, having anxiety attacks, etc. Went to new job, felt dopey and out of it but was mostly ok, now I'm home and it's catching up to me like crazy and everything is sore. Going to have to take one of my little blue pills tonight but that will probably leave me not functioning for hubby's Opa's birthday lunch tomorrow. Which Oma bought veggie samosas, just for me, for. So... Poo.

Well.

Apparently something has gone wrong with the hot water tank and the landlord needs to replace it, and doesn't want the basement occupied in case of flooding. Which means I am back at square one. But with significantly lower spirits.

I just don't think I have it in me to look anymore.

Super sore and shitty feeling and dopey and dizzy to boot. Poo.

How long does it take to replace a water heater?

I have no idea. I suppose I could see if there's an option to stay but just move in a bit later.

I assume she has to replace it right away. If she got flooded and the insurance found she had been negligent about replacing a water heater, they could within their rights to refuse to pay out.

I've lost about 6lbs so far and feel so much more comfortable and now my mom is bisqueing about c,othes that won't fit. I really don't want to hear it. But I think the fact that I currently own clothes is a bad reason to not get and feel healthier.

My dog had a diarrhea explosion all over the living room. I don't know when it happened, but I just stumbled upon it. That was fun to clean up. And I'm pretty sure the carpet cleaner I used kind of bleached the carpet, so that is also awesome.

My oatmeal cookies taste like baking soda. Its like freebasing breakfast.

I'm so incredibly tired and all my muscles are sore (they were yesterday too!) and yeah, I did stay up to 3:30 last night BUT I slept until 11... So I feel like I shouldn't be feeling this way, also kind of hot and cold a lot so... Worried I'm getting sick again. I've pretty much been sick all of 2013, if not actively feelin sick then still feeling like I'm getting over something. Ugh guess its doctor time.

I just broke the Vitamix that my mom has had for over twenty years. She is crying and throwing up.

Oh no!!! Truly a terrible thing. Any chance of it being fixable? A good appliance person can do wonders, depending on how broken it is...

It's a broken gear. My dad said it can't be fixed, and he can fix almost anything.

How did it break? Is it really your fault or just a case of wear and tear? I'd call the Vitamix people - they migt have some ideas.

So sorry your mom is upset, but you know, things break! Don't be too hard on yourself!

Yeah, it sucks that it broke but throwing up over it seems unreasonable to me. I'd listen to tofulish, myself. Vitamix might have useful advice, don't give up yet!

Please don't beat yourself up over a 20 year old blender. Vitamixes are great and all, but I think any appliance that old is bound to break eventually.

Maybe you guys can get replacement parts from vitamix. If these things are as fabulous as everyone says, I'd be surprised if vitamix doesn't still keep the parts for older models around.

20 years is their cutoff for parts. This is from 1990.

The thing is, this was the one big item she bought herself that she really wanted (she never buys herself anything) and she has used it at least weekly for over two decades, and now I destroyed it by accidentally leaving metal somehow in the container. I'll try to figure out how to replace it, but she can't afford a new, so I totally understand her reaction.

LW! Accidents happen and the thing is decades old. Be a little nice to yourself. Things Happen. They do. It wasn't malicious. Something similar happened to me in January. All will be well.

This. I understand that your mom's really upset, but accidents happen and 20 years is a hell of a run.

In the meantime, she is out something that meant a lot to her and I have no idea where to come up with the replacement funds.
