I am so depressed about the situation with my neighbors.

I can't believe anyone would put their barbecue right under another person's window and then listen to a neighbor say that they can't breathe in their own home and know its affecting a toddler, and still say "fork you we can do what we want. Get an ambulance if you can't breathe." And then threatens to barbecue every evening just to make you suffer worse.

Yesterday when the Fire Marshall was by my house explaining the situation to me, the mother of the family, who is in her late 60s was on the porch behind him sticking her tongue out and me and laughing "Neeneeneeneeneer." Who does that?

I am now counting the days to the end of summer, which is sad, because I love summer.

Those people sound mentally unstable; I'm kind of afraid of them.

Agreed.

Elsewhere, I read that you were contacting the Health Dept. Can you also contact someone on the City Council? (Or another neighborhood group, or even a Congressional Rep.?) They're not only clueless, they're belligerent and mean. The PD are not helping (sounds like they're contradicting Fire?) .... So there must be someone higher up who can step in and make a reasonable thing happen.

Seriously: Who Does That.

(Turning on the sprinkles Right Next to their fire is a pretty immature thing to do, but man! If you want me and Desdemona to come over and do it, I'm so there.) (Also, ditto the suggestion to have them come into your space and experience the smoke in action. IF you can stand to have them over. I totally understand if not.)

My work harasser is calling again! This is the fourth time he's been allowed to violate a civil harassment order. I am just so forking sick and tired of the police not doing anything, having their "hands tied," giving me excuses, going through "procedure." What the fork has to happen before someone who is violating a judge's order not to stalk/harass someone before this forking gets handled?!

Last time this happened,a mere two weeks ago, I was told by the investigator there was nothing she could do (!!!) unless he called back. If that happened, she said, call her directly and she'd send an officer right to his address (which I've had since Day One, back in December 2012) for a 5150 Evaluation (psych hold). So of course I call today and she's NOT IN. The person answering the phone tried to put me through to dispatch, who will only send an officer who will only fill out another report which will go in a file and sit there doing fork all.

This, this is why I forking go nuts when I see cops hassling kids on a skateboard or something. THERE ARE MORE IMPORTANT THINGS OUT THERE.

I'm so sorry you're going through that Erica.

I'm at the emergency vet with a kitten in respiratory distress. He's only seven weeks old and up to today had avoided the URI the other kittens had, and now he's much sicker than they were.

I think I have bees in my wall. Or one bee.
I spent 3.5 hours today with one client completing a packet so he can hopefully get more intensive services than I am able to offer. I'm tired, frustrated, and tired. And not as hopeful as I should be since we did something similar about 2 months ago and got denied.

Our neighbors saw that my husband is home and were spoiling for a fight on their porch, watching us. You could just tell that they were ready to unload on him if he went over. And now the Fire Department says its a Health Department problem and vice versa and everyone seems to think that it is crazy to infringe on another homeowner's right to grill. I think lutin said it best - people just have no idea how scary it is not to be able to breathe in your own home and to worry about your child being exposed to it. I keep being treated like a diva, who just needs to get over it, heck its just a bit of smoke!

Apparently there is no recourse for me through the government, I can just hope that they calm down and move the fire pit etc out of the goodness of their hearts or I can move or go to a hotel on the nights that they barbecue. I am so depressed right now.

This situation has to de-escalate so that we can talk like reasonable people. We have never had issues with them before, and they have a large yard so remedying this should be really painless and simple for them. I really can't see what more we could do to keep the smoke out - seriously, their grill is right under our dining room window!

So I spent four hours at the vet and $600 and got zero diagnosis. They have no idea why he's having a hard time breathing.

I'm so sorry. That's the worst. When I first adopted my cat, she was constipated and the vet charged me more than $1200 for tests and never came up with a diagnosis. We took her home and she was fine and has been fine since. We've had her for a year and a half now and I'm still paying off that credit card bill.

I wish your kitten fast healing! <3

I'm unemployed for a little bit over than 4 months now, I'm looking for a new job almost 24/7 and today I have received an invitation for a job interview. The bad thing is that it is position in the pharmaceutical company (I had worked previously as a pharmacovigilance specialist) and I really hate this stuff. Literally, I stared crying after this phone call :/ .

Can you put a big asparagus commercial fan in your dining room window and turn it on to blow the smoke back on them when they start with their barbeque? Maybe you can borrow one from somebody...

T'lish, that is forking absurd. I can't imagine treating anyone else the way your neighbors are treating you right now.

Me...oh boy. The past couple weeks have been kind of hellish. There's a situation involving one of the children I work with that I can't talk about but am very concerned about. I'm worried but I've done all the things I am able to do, and I don't believe he's in danger; just very sad and scared and dealing with problems 7 year olds shouldn't have to deal with. Saturday was the 5 year anniversary of my cousin's death. I've been keeping busy with friends most days but it's been mostly that depression-anxiety cocktail of sad/scared/apathetic in varying degrees. I met a bunch of my friend's friends this weekend and I'm afraid they thought I was quiet and sad and not having fun when really I was just kind of anxious, but very glad to be out and about. I don't know. I feel like these aren't even real problems, but I feel like shiitake.

This morning I took the kids I nanny for to story time at a coffee shop and first T had a total meltdown because he wanted a bagel instantaneously and didn't want to wait for the cafe staff to toast it, then K had a total meltdown for who knows why and we had to leave in the middle and then S, the 4-year old, had a tantrum because we had to leave.

Then they all barely napped and K was woken up early because their mom set the oven timer while she was sleeping and then they spent the whole afternoon crying and hitting each other.

Not THAT different from an average day, but everything that could have been worse was worse.

The vet sent a reminder to take my dog for a checkup, because "Time flies when you're having fun!" Gee, thanks vet clinic, for reminding me that my dog died a few months ago.

I hate that. I asked my vet to remove my cats who have died so I'd stop getting reminders for checkups.

The kitten I took to the ER last night had to be admitted to the regular vet hospital today. And they can't figure out what's wrong with him either.

I lost a fancy bracelet my husband got for me when we were first dating eons ago. Cannot.find.it.anywhere. And then its fancy enough that I put it on my homeowner's insurance but they tell me that my policy will go up essentially $90-$100 a year if I accept the claim. Insurance is such a rip off. (The insurance part belongs in first world problems, but I am super upset about the bracelet. Its just a "thing" but it had sentimental value and I feel bad for losing it.)

I went to Foodswings for the first time yesterday and was super excited!
well.....the drumsticks are the same frozen ones I buy regularly at the local co-op so that was a HUGE let down; the seitan burger completely fell apart after the first bite. Just crumbled to bits in one big sloppy mess. I have never seen seitan behave that way before.
and to top it all off, soon after finishing dinner and going to see New Order, I started to sweat like mo'fo, thought I was going to pass out and vomit. While I was at the show. I tried go keep it together because, you know, it's New Order, and I had traveled several hours to get to that damn show and I did not want to miss it. But I was so sick and needed to bail.
it was def the food. I was perfectly fine before - not fine after.
FAIL

I don't get to see bun this weekend! FEH! MAJOR FEH! The stuff I have to finish by Monday is so close to being done, but we keep running into stupid tech issues. (Like, categories of stuff which should have equal numbers suddenly having 179, 149, 148, and 150 when they should all have 152, and where the hell did that bullshiitake come from + 4 hours of work to deconstruct spreadsheets and reconstruct them AND SPSS being annoying about the one test we want to run.) (Really, that's ok. We should've kept track better, and all the results are awesome despite the wonkiness. I just wish i could see bun! It's been months! MONTHS!)

I have to say, I was disappointed with Foodswings. It was a long way to go for a burnt corn dog and rather dull disco fries, especially since I passed a place where I could've had vegan pizza.

Yikes! This is making me feel less bad that I didn't make time to go there on my two recent trips to NY!
