My worst thing of today: googling insect bites and reaching the conclusion that I've been bitten by bed bugs.....

Fork, fork, fork.

Now running my third load of laundry today on high temperature, wondering if I should buy new mattresses or allergy resistant mattress covers...and if I should replace my carpet by laminate or not...

I might be vegan, but I'm getting rid of these bugs//going to kill them some how.

Those are the worst... Vyapti had to deal with them at one of the housing things he used to run. When he gets home tonight, I will ask him what they did to take care of it and see if we can't help make it easier.

I do know that you need everything to be washing in hot hot hot water.

I don't know that I've written about this before on here, but I've a colleague in her early 30s who is majorly struggling with alcohol. She has been signed off work with (I am guessing) depression for the past couple months. Before she was signed off she had gotten to the extent of blatantly swigging from bottles of vodka at her desk. We work in an open plan office. She came back to work yesterday and we assumed things had gotten better (seeing as presumably she had been cleared to come back by her doctor.) But it's not better. She was forked again by lunchtime. If our bosses have noticed (and I can't believe they haven't) they are ignoring the issue. I feel horrendous about it and it's causing me so much stress/ seriously affecting my mental health. I don't know what to do about it. She is a lovely girl and I am concerned about her but I'm also concerned about myself with worrying about her 24/7. URGH.

My back is awful today. I took some t3, but really, really don't want to lose another weekend to stupid muscle relaxants. Actually, since it isn't even really muscle pain (except that bein in pain makes me tense which causes muscle pain), they mostly work because I'll sleep for 16 hrs.

I have a test to write (ugh), and a couple lessons to plan (maybe fun). I think I'll post about that; I could use input from the brilliant, clever PPK.

Seems that you can pick them up while travelling, doesn't matter if you stay at the best hotels or youth hostels...
and I've been in five different hostels last week (mon-friday)...and the first red dots started to show up on the first wednesday after the trip.

Pretty sure we would all do the same thing.

My worst thing was that they made me do lunch and recess duty today, as well as dismissal duty. I'm an intern. I'm not supposed to have to do any of this stuff. It wasn't too bad, but it also wasn't fun getting in in the morning and learning that I had no prep period in addition to my supervisor being MIA.

Today a little girl in my group at work was saying she didn't want to play outside because she'd get sweaty, and she's fat, so she doesn't want to get sweaty (her words). I talked to her for a few minutes and told her that people come in all different shapes and sizes. She said, "I don't like shapes and sizes!" There was more, but that's the gist of it. She's six. My heart is breaking a little. I know I need to bring it up to her mom when I see her on Monday (at the very least that she mentioned being bullied about her weight at school) but I'm not sure how to phrase it.

Yes, this! Not much is worse than not having any answers.

Oh! I haven't updated. I do have an answer--gallbladder has got to go. The surgeon first suggested a surgical option with a 25% chance of success and said I'd eventually have to get my gb out anyway and I said why don't we just take the damn thing out?! So now I wait. Meeting with the surgeon Nov 20, then I don't know how long it will take to actually have the procedure. There is light at the end of the tunnel!

I'm just really hopeful that the IBS that has been triggered by the gallbladder issues also departs this earthly coil.

Thanks for the support everyone!

After my ex had that surgery, the surgeon came out and said "I have pictures for you."
motherforking what?
He gave me pictures of the gall bladder being deflated and removed. I should have used them for the Christmas cards that year.

My doctor took pictures of the springs in my fallopian tubes when I got sterilized. It's pretty awesome even though I had a bad reaction to the procedure.

I'm totally bummed I didn't get to see my thyroid or lymph nodes when they were removed. I mean, I just beat cancer. And then I beat it again. That's amazing. I'd like to see proof of that.

A potentially TMI bit.
Spoiler: show
I did get to see the bit of my cervix that was LEEPed out the other day. And I saw my cervix before and after, so that was pretty awesome too. Pink donut. Pink donut with acid frosting.

I was annoyed that I didn't get to see the cyst the size of a grapefruit that they took out of me. That probably would've been disgustingly awesome.

have been raw for the past few days (to feel better, I always feel tonnes better when most of my daily intake is raw). Today husband and I were childless so we went out to lunch and I got my usual awesome vegan vegie burger from a favourite cafe, so you know, bread bun and all. And then realised a couple hours later that my suspicions about having a gluten problem are most likely correct because my gut is so sore and blown up two dress sizes.

I could, but I hope that won't be needed. Mostly cause I rather avoid chemicals all over the place.

Today I discovered that my Ikea mattresses have a cover that can be removed and is washable at 140 F, so I'm also washing them. Only downside is that they don't fit in my spin dryer.

Apparently bed bugs can also hide in corners or joints of beds/furniture, but they die from exposure to heat higher than 115 F for 7 minutes....so I bought a heat gun today so I can apply heat to those corners, hopefully in lethal doses.

For now I'm sleeping on an air-mattress in the living-room.

Are there any veg meet ups in your area? Or meet ups for hobbies? Take some cookies into work and introduce yourself around the building? Birdemic movie night? If you do any sort of outdoor activities I think it would be easy to find a group doing stuff there.

Running group?

Great idea...in a couple of months :). I'm still trying to adjust to the altitude, and running is particularly tough at the moment. My pace and distance have slowed waaaay down.

Thanks panda. I need to join a meetup group or 12. I'm a bit apprehensive due to my bad meetup group experiences in Seattle. I guess they weren't bad; everyone in all the meetup groups there just seemed to be really socially awkward, and I consider myself a pretty normal-attempting-to-be-social person, so I didn't have any positive outcomes there.

Veg Eric, buy 'diomataceous earth', it's a natural and harmless to humans and all life (other than insects) powder. Dust that into anywhere & everywhere. It'll knock 'em dead and keep them that way.

Yeah that's what I'm worried about. I'm afraid her parents will take it the wrong way and try to have her diet or sign her up for the soccer league. Which is not to say there's anything wrong with sports, but if a girl feels too ashamed to go on the swings and you tell her she needs to be out on a soccer field with the kids who are already bullying her...
