I've been in the hospital for liver problems, cellulitis, c-diff and a few other serious problems. I've been in the hospital and rehab for 4 1/2 months and I was having trouble finding housing back in Lancaster, PA. My father, never to do anything small, bought a house for me to rent from him about 10-15 minutes away from theirs in Anderson, South Carolina.

I should have pictures soon when he gets back from a quick trip to Miami. Apparently, it has a big fenced in back yard and it will be a great place to have a dog.

Wow, thjat's awesome HappyAsh. I hope your recovery continues, and that having a dog-friendly place close to your family helps.

Excellent that you have this news ... it will speed your recovery not having to worry about the roof over your head and no probs with repairs since you know the landlord so well !

We look forward to see the yard where your dog will be gamboling about ...

That must be such a relief. It sounds like you've been through a lot, so best wishes for continued recovery and fun with your new dog in your new back yard!

It's very cute! Congrats and good luck. You do know that you are now obligated to post pics of your new canine companion.

As an aside, I hope you like it in SC. I've been thinking of moving there for a couple of years.

Ok. So now I'm out (been out of rehab since 9/15), and working on the house everyday furiously with my parents:
-We pulled up the really gross old carpets and there was hardwood floors underneath! We had them refinished, and they came out beautifully.
- We cleaned and painted all the walls, doors, and we're just not going to get to the trim before they leave for their winter place in Ecuador.

- We had a contractor come in and fix the structural problems and his electrician updated a bunch of the wiring for us (ethernet lines and jacks from the den to several places throughout the apartment).
- We've done a ton of yard work, mulching, tree trimming, and replanting.
- and we've got the place looking GREAT now.

Friend is now visiting from my days at Purdue University, and we went to The Mellow Mushroom tonight and ate vegan pizza with Daiya and tofu with a hummus appetizer tonight!

I've been exhausted every single day and night for a while now, but I'm getting a bit of my strength back. More work and many pictures to come!

you typed -

I've been exhausted every single day and night for a while now, but I'm getting a bit of my strength back.

getting a bit of your strength back? by the sounds of all the work you have done you got it back, plus some extra then used it up!

have a fine restoring / gaining strength time admiring your work ...

exhausted from reading all you did
