Hi Everyone,

I have CQ's blessing to go ahead and start a greeting card or post card exchange.

I'm not sure how this is done on this forum, so if someone could fill me in on the protocol that would be great.

On another forum I simply stated that anyone who wanted to get a card from me to pm me their address and I would pm them mine - that is if both parties were comfortable exchanging addresses with one another. So, folks could just post on this thread something similar.

I would personally prefer to exchange with people outside of my continent (I'm in BC Canada) So anyone in New Zealand, UK, OZ, Germany somewhere far would be good.

Yay! This could be fun!

YAY! I'm not sure I will do both this and the gift exchange, but I'm excited that you're doing it. :) You can do it however you want, of course! In the past, I think what we've done is that the organizer has people PM their addresses and how many cards they want to send/receive (should be the same number of each), then you assign everybody their partners and PM people back with the list of names and addresses. If you want people to specify whether they prefer domestic or international, ask them to tell you that in the PM. Since everybody's just sending and receiving cards, it doesn't necessarily matter how you do the matching, so if you match people up such that the people to whom they send cards are different from the people from whom they receive cards, it's fine. But it's your baby so you can do it however you want. :)

I might not be able to resist. We'll see. I love these.

I suggest also that you give people a deadline for signing up, and then a deadline for sending cards.

Thanks CQ! Okay, so please feel free to pm me your info and preferences, before Canadian Thanksgiving please (October something or other, I'll look it up) and I can have everyone matched up before the end of that long weekend - including myself!

Hopefully we'll all have our cards long before American Thanksgiving. :)

So if everyone can have their details to me by October 12, I should be able to have everyone matched up by October 14. Please include the number of people you wish to exchange with and any location preferences.

And certainly if you are uncomfortable sending me your details, please use this thread to invite info exchanges just between yourself and those who wish to post card/card swap with you. But I'll still be happy to match people up too. If you match yourselves up instead of or in addition to me matching you up, well, it's all good. :)

I would love to do this, if anyone wants to send Halloween cards. I've seen a lot of really cool one shere in the U.S.

Yeah, Hallowe'en cards would be something, I've seen those here too, but never thought of it. I was just thinking generic pretty or interesting cards or post cards - no theme in mind, but hey whatever catches your eye and makes you think I'd like to send that to someone. Outside of North America Hallowe'en is not such a big thing so it would be an interesting thing to send to the overseas crowd for sure.

Kfad: I've made them too. That would be fun! I just bought some "scrapbooking" halloween paper too. I haven't found too many stickers that were cute enough to buy yet, but I have a lot of other materials.

I have a million Halloween stamps... don't make me come over there!

I just really like making cards. It might border on an obsession.

Hi guys, sorry I'm going to have to abandon this project - things have gone a bit pear shaped for me. A few unexpected things, and I need to focus on getting well.

Please continue to use this thread in whatever ways you like.

Thanks.

Jean, I certainly hope things are looking up for you. Please do let us know if there is a way we can support you.

I'm willing to take on organizing the post card/greeting card exchange and am open to suggestions! If you'd like to participate, please PM me
1. Your mailing address (and name)
2. How many matches you would like (default 1)

Optional:
Preferences for location (e.g. within your country/international)
Anyone not to match you with? (no reason necessary)
Anything else?

Let's go with a sign up no later than Oct 10, please. If you have a question that you don't post to this thread, please use a different subject line in the PM since I might not read the PMs carefully until I do the matches.

Thanks for your concern everybody. I'm okay, not in hospital or anything , just forked in the head, and my anxiety attacks have resurfaced amongst other crepe. I'm finding organizing stuff a bit beyond me at the moment- sorry.

Jean, there's no need to be sorry at all. Taking care of yourself is important and not at all something to apologize for. I hope you are finding ways to manage / improve how you're feeling.

Just a reminder, about a week left to join this exchange. A postcard/greeting card hopefully won't take too much time. No need to agonize over the selection: even if you wind up sending each other the exact same card, it's fine! Joining could brighten someone's day (/week/month?) and brighten yours in return! :)

Yay GreenDuck!

Last day to sign up!
(OK, I'll be honest, if you join before I do the matching, I'll add you in. ;) )

Thanks, ChoirQueer, for the guidelines and encouragement!

Matches have been sent via PM.
(I notice the outbox has a slight delay, so don't panic if you don't see yours immediately.)

Most matches are mutual and not secret: the person you send to will also be sending to you.
Pretty please don't leave your match partner hanging! If you know you just won't get to them, please PM them or as a last resort PM me.

Above all, have fun with it!

Just a technical note: PMs stay in your outbox until the person you sent it to opens it, so while it looks like a delay to the sender, it isn't actually.
