In May I cut six inches off my hair. In September I cut it up to just above my shoulders. Totally hated it. I'm finally starting to like the length m hair is at, and now I want to cut it up to my chin. Or bangs.... which I tried my first year of high school and totally hated.

Why can't I just ever be content with my hair?! Considering dying it a coppery color to satisfy my need for change (semi permanent only though... because I'm sure I'll want my natural color back in a few weeks.)

I think i might give my dreads black raccoon stripes... Right now some are orangey/red/purple. About half are dark blonde. Good idea or bad? I think part of my motivation might be that i am bored and the internet is too slow to do my homework. But not slow enough for PPK...

I just got like 6-7" cut off my hair. there was too much of it. now it is much happier and healthier!

A bleached pixie is a cut that doesn't look so good on a lot of people, but I can honestly say that I think you would totally look amazing!

Aww, thank you jean and tofucheez. I have had long hair for 24 years until yesterday, have to admit to a few moments of thinking I'd made a big mistake, and it feels really cold where it's been shaved! The big moment will be in a couple of hours when my boyfriend sees it for the first time. Wish me luck!

Dropscone, you look beautiful! That is such a flattering cut on you. I think your natural color is very becoming, so I'd probably vote for don't bleach.

Growing out my pixie. It#s at the *annoying stage* right now, but it's creeping over my ears!!!! Might get bangs. Haven't had bangs since I was fifteen (and didn't have access to a straightening iron back then, so looked horrible).

if all goes well, i might be cutting my hair tomorrow night. (my potential buyer seems really super legit, and she's willing to pay $2905 for 35 inches)
i know, such a random number. my "buy it now" price was $1000/foot, and i just rounded down when i divided it by 12. i'm losing $11 for having done that, but it's fine. no biggie. i'm really curious how heavy this is. i did a similar dramatic cut (not nearly as much, but close) back in '98, and my head felt so light when i left the hairdresser's. even almost lightheaded. i didn't need to use as much force to turn my head or even hold it up. it felt like i was walking weird. heh.

so, the timeline, i wash it tonight, let it dry and curl draped over a towel while i sleep, send her pictures with the CNN.com headline and the invoice, and if she sends payment that same day, i'll cut it that night and mail it out the next morning. (!!!!)

perfect timing too, cause due to old pipes in the house and their non-working shut-off valves, we were unable to turn off the water to our 2nd floor which we had already been planning on replacing the insulation to, so we're not actively using, and are blocking any heat from escaping up to from our main floor. that combined with the polar vortex, and we now need to replace those pipes. (the slow-drip didn't work for that deep temp drop) aah well. at least i'll have gotten a haircut. maybe there'll be a little leftover to help pay for the insulation.

it wouldn't have been frivolous money anyway. (we're still deep in the hole to the credit cards) it would have just made me feel so much better to have given it to the credit cards than having to pay for new pipes that we really should have planned for better. if we had spent the minimal time to figure out which valves went to the 2nd floor, realised that they didn't work, and had the plumber out before winter hit, we would have been in a much better place. it was my own stupid fault, honestly. at least they're going to be replacing the copper with a plastic that expands better.

I am still growing my hair out, but it feels like it is taking forever (as it does). I haven't had a trim in 6 months so I know I'm due, I'm just dreading it because my new stylist (who is a curly hair specialist and has hair almost exactly like mine) is still trying to fix what my last stylist did, so I might have to lose a little more length than I want to get the shape right. I know it will look better and be easier to care for, but I just got it long enough that it's bra-strap length when curly, which is totally arbitrary but I feel like I hit little growing-out milestone and I'm going to lose it. I should really get it trimmed, though, right? Like, I shouldn't just put it off forever, should I?

Hey! So I wanted to add some fun hair color - blue, green, whatever. My stylist said that even with bleaching part of my hair, the fun color really only lasts a month, and she suggested hair extensions. I said yes, but then later wondered about migraines, because I do sometimes get migraines, or at least pain, from having my hair up tightly.

Anyone?

Real color! You think if it was so horrible to have color, that so many people would do it? Couple things, yeah, it fades, but if your hair is bleached well enough, the color it fades to is often quite beautiful, and another thing is that you can so easily upkeep it on your own! Get a little tub of the color and slap that shiz on, wrap up the bit you've put it on to in tin foil so it doesn't get on your other hair. Blammo!
