My aunt and her daughter have not spoken for over a year. My cousin remarried after a divorce and then losing her son in a terrible accident, and (to me) it seems like my aunt is now jealous of my cousin's extended family that doesn't include her. Their big knock-down-drag-out that resulted in them not speaking was when my aunt loudly made a comment that my cousin's step-grandson "has a big ol' giant head like a basketball" (??) and then I imagine the record needle scratching as everyone gasps.

Anyway. My aunt, who is not in the greatest of health, keeps posting memes about telling your loved ones you love them because any day you could lose them, etc. and how family is all you have, so cherish them, etc. And I know she's vaguebooking about her daughter, but, like, that shiitake is a two way street. Who cares who is at fault (and by all accounts it's not my cousin)? If she really believed these memes, she'd be the one apologizing. Nope. Just gonna keep vaguebooking until she literally dies. Cool idea.

here is verbatim what my cousin just posted on facebook

"Things I find interesting:
- People riot because they feel they are entitled since they are not treated equally and don't believe the law applies to them?
- Drug addicts, who at one point DID have a choice, get a free shot or two or how many ever it takes to revive them, but people with allergies, our kids and future, can't afford an EpiPen?
- Both people running for President of this country have no idea what honor means?
What kind of world do we like in? I pray more people find the light."

AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH SO MUCH NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO

I deleted an old friend off my friend's list because he kept posting racist crepe. I don't even know if he has the wit to realise how racist he looks (he's not the brightest spark). I held off for a while because I'm friends with his sister, but, fork it, can't look at that shiitake any more.

I unfriended my best friends husband. His recent post about doing everything he can to change the political system, which is simply not voting, was the last straw. He is emotionally abusive to his wife and I have called him out on it repeatedly.
I do worry that this will affect my friendship with her and I do worry that this will isolate her more, just what the abuser wants. I just felt like to really support her I need to limit him.

TW: Rape

A friend private messaged me me a link to a "violent rape video." I assumed she had been hacked, but no, as a Jill Stein supporter she thought I should be informed about a Clinton "scandal" that has long since been discredited. A simple search on Snopes or maybe a modicum of decent judgement should have prevented her private messaging me something where the top line was a description of the rape of a 12 year old.

It should be so obvious that before sending a private message, check and (1) ask yourself if this is something you'd want to be reading on a Sunday morning with your child at Sesame Place and (2) if it's even the slightest bit true. Please don't actually message people stuff that is triggering and also just not true.

And it's annoying because I'm only friends with her because she cries about how desperately she wants to be vegan, but then goes on trips to her home country and eats a ton of meat. And then comes home and cries about it. I am just so done

Yeah, DTMFA. Doesn't sound like a real friendship, and if she's causing you grief, I'd just cut her off.

Blergh. Facebook makes the whole breakup process a lot more gross. Is there a word for finding out your ex is seeing someone new, not because you haven't blocked them on social media (because omfg of course you have), but because they're seeing someone you know?

Ugh. Fragile, middle-class white men complaining that they're blamed for all the world's problems and then silenced because "white men automatically are wrong about everything." OMG WON'T SOMEONE THINK OF THE WHITE MEN FOR A CHANGE?!

I imagine it's even grosser when they're dropping cheeky little vague hints on the messageboard you both frequent. I'm really sorry you're going through this, it's tacky and it sucks. Keep your head up, this too shall pass.

Considering that all three parties involved here at least occasionally post on the PPK, it might be worthwhile not to discuss the issue(s) here (or in other threads). That's not to assign blame/shame to anyone, but it is certainly making the PPK a little awkward these days.

Your Modly,

Appy
