Just what the title says, with epic music to help set the scene.

I hope someone who knows more about Border Collies can explain this. It seems as though the first dog we see is being aggressive and the second dog is quite submissive and frankly appears terrified. The end bit appears is if the second dog is bottom of the pack for sure and is routinely picked on. Or maybe I'm just being too sensitive. I'm curious anyway as to what's really going on.

i didn't think any of the dogs looked scared. they just seemed intense, which is how border collies tend to be. it looked like everybody was having fun to me--or whatever it is that passes for fun when you're a border collie. everybody was having focused work time?

I loved it! The way it was filmed makes me think this is a regular occurrence there, so hopefully everyone is having fun. So cute.

I read elsewhere that they were all stalking/staying on command and then were releasedwhich is when they all go silly. Though, knowing BCs, I wouldn't be surprised if this had happened organically since some lines are bred so excessively whackadoodle.

Definitely no aggressive or particularly submissive actions in this video. Just herding.

ha, I know, the music was such an awesome choice. Such a cute video really.

Thanks for posting. I saw this the other day, but was confused. Thanks Moon for further enlightening me. Now I can enjoy the video for what it is. Sorry for my dumb questions.

Don't be sorry! Herding as a behaviour is based from predatory behaviours that we humans moulded and shaped to fill our own needs. So it can look aggressive, and the stalking itself looks particularly aggressive to us humans, I think. Because stalking = hunting= killing, right? Plus, BCs are just so darn INTENSE.

But stalking motions can also take place in very healthy play dynamics as well, often you'll see two dogs playing and taking turns being the hunter and hunted. It's pretty cute.

I was pretty convinced that the first dog was a zombie. But I was also laughing a LOT at how incredibly slow and determined those stalks were. Awesome dogs!
