Yesterday we had about a foot and a half of snow on the ground. Today it was nearly 60 degrees, and almost all of the snow was gone by noon! You could see clouds of fog rising above the snow as it disappeared. It was warm and really humid. Now it's about 35 degrees and the temperature is dropping rapidly. It's supposed to be a high of 15 degrees tomorrow. Make up your mind, weather!

Of course the hot water heater stops working when it's bone-chillingly cold and I have a job interview tomorrow. The plumber says there's nothing he can do until the pipes unfreeze!?! Is this guy right? You'd think a plumber would have a trick up his sleeve for this situation.

I think I'll be showing at the gym..

My car was reluctant to start last night and this morning, but start it did! I took the morning off work to avoid trudging about in zero degree weather, but I still have to go to work at another place this evening. It's supposed to be up to 12°F by the time I have to go and stay there until it's time to come home. That's better than last night! My heat is running almost constantly to keep it at 65°F inside, and even so it feels much colder. Bah. Supposed to be in the high 50s by the weekend, though. Weird asparagus weather.

I threw in the towel and decided to work from home. It's just to cold. Although I did briefly step out and was met wind that made my face burn and stream of tears that would not stop until indoors. Ugh!
As a side, the condensation on my windows have turned to ice. I don't know if this is something that needs to be handled or should I leave it to melt eventually?

It'll melt. I lived in an apartment that I only heated with space heaters, and the windows had ice on the inside panes regularly. Nothing ever broke or anything.

My poor dogs haven't been walked in three days. With the wind chill, it has been about 8 below and I just can't deal with that.
At least they can romp around the back yard a bit, until their little paws can't take it any more. Go away, frigid weather!

Yet another storm has arrived. The rain and wind has started.... the rain is rotten already but the wind isn't bad yet. Lot's of warnings to stay away from coastal areas due to tidal surges and possible waves up to 65ft!

I'm sat on my bed dreading walking Lexi but I know the sooner I get out the more likely it is that I will avoid the worst of the storm but it just looks soooooo ewwwww out there right now. I'm going to get completely soaked right through my wet gear.

I hope you are snug at home now! Please be careful - it sounded horrendous on the news.

Thanks!
Things ended up being not to bad in the immediate area where I live. Lots of damage to the coastal area where my relatives live. The photos of the waves were pretty damn impressive!

When I got the windshield clear this morning it stayed clear for the day. That was nice.

I was talking to a friend last night that had to go to work at 4:30 in the morning on that one exceptionally cold night we had. She said it was -11°F. We both agreed to never ever complain about 20°F temps again, and that we will someday tell complaining children to suck it up because they don't even know.

Yikes! I bet you would. Are those normal temps for your area for this time of year?

Temps are pretty normal for this time of year, but we don't normally have that many consecutive days over 40C (104F). The forecast for Sat is only 23C (73F). This summer has been pretty cool really, a bit of hot weather is nice (but I'd still like some snow).

4C is still too warm. Come on, below 0 with ice and snow! I am *ready* for outdoor skating already, dudes.

This weather has been a roller coaster of doom and I have had so many migraines it's just un-fucking-believable. Just give me some cold forking weather and let it stay cold. YOU SUCK, NC.

I'm pretty sure I will never complain about the weather after we had -40C last week. I can't fathom living in more northern Canadian places that have that for weeks on end. Everything from here on out feels downright balmy.

The amount snow NYC is getting right now is already putting the previous "polar vortex" to shame, I think. Plus it's cooooold. ugh!
