Most days, being the oldest person in the room is all I've got.

Ha! I'm starting university as a junior (transferring from 2 years in community college) next month and I just turned 43, so this is the next few years of my life.

I was going to say "Keeping my physical therapy appointments twice a week", but I'm not sure if that makes me adulty or just old. Ditto flossing?

Um... consistently paying rent on time?

I have a lot of examples of *not* being adulty, like putting off making appointments and considering purchasing a lava lamp and having dessert for dinner and buying a phone case that has floating purple glitter in it.

I have checklists and sub-checklists and they're all color-coded and I literally just checked "water plant" off of my "home maintenance" checklist
i'm the most boring adult.

I think boober wins at being an adult!
I guess I could join LW on the being the oldest person in the room thing.
But I'm going to say that for the past three days I have had chocolate covered bananas in my freezer and made the very adult decision to not have them for breakfast. It was a real struggle.

The kitten knocked over a plant and broke the pot. I considered leaving it and hoping my husband would think he saw it first and clean it up, but I cleaned it up instead.

I also just wrote a sensible grocery list, and I've been doing my PT exercises every day for almost a month. I pay my mortgage on time and sent out emails that I didn't feel like sending out today.

Does paying bills on time count if you have everything set up as autopay?

I paid all of my bills on the first - three of them weren't even due yet.

I pay all mine on the first as well. If I didn't, id ever keep track. It helps that I get paid monthly, on the last weekday of each month. I just empty out my checking account on the 1st and don't worry have to worry as much about budgeting the rest of the month. Also, a portion goes automatically to my credit union savings that is highly inconvenient to get money out of.

I should mention I also bought a silly-straw travel cup with a bear riding a bicycle on it this evening because it was on sale at target and I am 10000% gonna use it to drink cold brew in my office so

edit: i do the same thing as lwitch, all my bills get paid at the same time on the 1st, that way i don't have to worry about it.
(rent + electric are both red on the checklist for the 1st of every month)

My bills all go by direct debit so they just do their own thing, thankfully, as I'm not sure I'd remember...

The neighbours cat was just sick on the rug and my husband called me to deal with it. Me! Why me! But apparently I am The Adult and should know what to do. And I guess I did because I cleaned it and hung it out to dry.

The only thing I can think of is making sure there is enough money to pay the mortgage each month. I am the least adulty adult I know bar my best friend. I'm super impressed with all your adulting!

i am jealous of your sub-lists and color-coding. i shall do this, too! love!

also i am jealous of your cold brew.

I'm not adulting... I got an unsolicited offer on a townhouse I own and I haven't acted on it. I am going to try to call the realtor today though.

does it make me less adulty if i admit my husband did all the adult things concerning the roof and my brakes?
i dont even really contribute financial at this point since im a stay at home mom.

i do spend my day keeping our child alive. that feels pretty adult.

i also do literally everything concerning day to day life. i make all the dr/vet appts and take them to them for the kid and pets. i make sure the pets have their various meds and refill them. i clean everything. i do the laundry. i am solely responsible for meal planning, grocery shopping, and cooking because my husband doesnt really know how to make those decisions and would probably just not eat if he had to make a decision about what to eat.i take the kid EVERYWHERE and do EVERYTHING with her and make sure she is dressed/cleaned/fed or at least an approximation of those things.

I recently cleaned out the dishwasher filter. This is definitely the most adulty thing I have ever done.

I don't know if you're "supposed to" but mine gets a lot of bird poo and spiderwebs on it.

Dishwashers have filters??? I guess all those color-coded checklists and spreadsheets haven't made me an adult yet.

There are so many things I never knew like...

Gutters need to be cleaned out yearly at least (of course I grew up in an area with no real trees)
Dishwashers have filters and dishwashers themselves may need to be cleaned (I grew up without a dishwasher so this may be part of it)
Dryers vents have to be cleaned out (of course I didn't grow up with a dryer either so there is that)
