I normally don't start new topics but my grandma passed away and I'm just really sad. She was almost 90 and in pretty good health. She was hilarious and just a very independent woman who took very good care of herself. Luckily she didn't suffer too much. She's been miserable without my grandpa for the last 15 years since he died so I'd like to think that they are together now. What really makes me upset is that she's been on me about having a baby for a couple of years and now that I'm finally pregnant she's not going to be here to meet the baby.

To round out the already unpleasant last couple of days, my father who has not called my grandma or seen her in 2 years decided to fly in for the funeral. He rarely talks to me, or anyone else in his family for that matter, and when he saw me he casually said hi as if he hasn't only talked to me three times in the last year. I thought things would change when he found out he was going to be a grandfather but silly me for thinking that. Other drama has ensued but I don't have the energy to go into it. I'm just really exhausted at this point and need to get some food that's not bagels and hummus in me.

I'm glad your grandmother was able to live independently her whole life. It's heartbreaking watching people you love slowly fall apart. She sounds like a really great woman. I'm so sorry she won't be able to meet your child.

Oh, Sashi - {{{HUGS}}} I'm very sorry for your loss, especially so close to the holidays, and when you're expecting a baby. Be sure to take care of yourself; rest, get enough food, and try to concentrate on all the time you had with your grandma (90 is a very good age, especially to be independent!), rather than on whatever drama other family members decide to stir up. Hang in there.

I'm sorry. But it sounds like you'll have some awesome stories about her to tell your child one day.

I'm also sorry for your loss. I'm sure the situation with your dad doesn't make it any easier. Definitely get some good food in you that is not bagels or hummus and take care of yourself.
