Sashi, i am sorry for your loss. it is so hard when we realize our kids aren't going to get to know the awesome people who formed us and inspired us. I will be thinking and praying for you as you deal with all the stuff (normal and dramatic) that come with a death in the family.

Thanks everyone. I spent the last couple of days with my cousins and aunts going through my grandma's apartment. We found some pretty cool stuff. There was a whole box of love letters that my grandpa wrote to my grandma when he was in the war. Some of them were pretty hilarious. She must have been reading them recently because they were just out in her bedroom. One of my cousins is going to archive all of them along with the recipe book so we can all gets copies at some point. We found tons of pictures including ones from all of the traveling my grandparents did. It ended up my grandma saved all sorts of random things and they were in all sorts of random places in the apartment. I guess she did live there for at least 55 years. No wonder she was trying to make me take home stuff with me every time I went there! My father ended up leaving soon after the funeral so I didn't have to deal with him much...he found out my grandma wrote him out of the will which did not go over well.

My heart goes out to you, Sashi. That is tough. I'm sure she was glad to know about your pregnancy. Otherwise, *hugs*

(((Hugs Sashi))). Please accept our condolences on the loss of your grandmother who sounds like an amazing woman. I'm also so sorry you had to deal with drama from your father and didn't get the support you would have wanted from him at her funeral.

My grandma died last week too Sashi. Even when you expect it, and you're happy they had a good life and a quiet death, it's still just sad because you love them. xR

I'm so sorry about your grandmother -- I lost both of mine last year (I never had any grandfathers). My grandmothers were like a constant -- it's weird knowing they're not around, even though I moved overseas ages ago and hadn't seen them in ages.

As for your father, you have my sympathy. The only times I have talked to mine since getting pregnant with baby #2 is when he phones to yell at me about something. (And I haven't talked to my mom since getting pregnant with #2 -- she sends me hate emails.) (Although I haven't heard from either in a few months, thankfully.)

Anyway, there was some family drama with my parents when my grandmothers died last year -- having to deal with parental drama on top of the death of a loved one makes it even worse!!
