This is Naica Cave in Chihuahua. The crystals are a form of gypsum called selenite. The cave is ~30 million years ago.

I find rocks inspiring. All of them.

this picture makes me feel SO weird.

Axolotls! I had no idea these creatures existed until the other day. I am mindblown by the sheer awesomeness.

In the case of fruit at least, it's more like the planet makes it so it can be eaten, as opposed to making it so we can eat.

Those are so amazing! I love the NASA site. Great pictures. I hadn't seen spicules prior to clicking links on that site.

It totally blows my mind, in the best way possible. And it's full of beauty.

I like pondering the depths of the ocean where the sun don't shine. How heavy is the water down there? How does any creature thrive? Can they see at all or if there's a white creature among them are they considered luminosities by which they can see by, like the moon at night? What's it like to live without sunlight or knowing of the existence of the sky and so on? Without cognizance of the rest of the earth, knowing only the depths. I don't read up on these things, just enjoy the unanswered questions.

All the things buried in the ocean: secrets, ships, airplanes from WWI and whenever else, old bones, wrecks. Things that will never wash ashore, always be unknown.

Also, the ancient forest. Trees that have been here for thousands of years. Again, are there parts of the forest so rich in foliage that no light penetrates through? There must be.

All these lives lived we know absolutely nothing about. We know nothing (or very little, or can only guess) about their sensibilities, their reactions, their instincts, what thoughts lie in their heads of other creatures. Like what is that chipmunk thinking of right now, or that sparrow? And so on. don't even get me started on the universe, planets, galaxies, what's out there. I can go onandonandon about all of it...

The sheer determination of organisms to live and procreate. There was a tern nesting this summer where I worked that had a hole in its head and it was still soldiering on, tending to its chicks.

And everything else. Nature is great.
