Ughh....I am rather annoyed and disappointed right now. My roommate was supportive of the idea for me to adopt this dog I found online. I had everything arranged including a vet visit, schedule shift at my placement to come home and visit dog, bought supplies....and so on. Today she decides she's against it because I'm "not in a good place" and thus shouldn't have a dog. I tried to convince her otherwise, but no luck. This dog has a waiting list of other people who want to adopt her, so I can't find alternative arrangements with my living situation in time to do so. I'm so sad. I was so excited about this. She was the perfect dog for me- adorable, well-behaved corgi. It seemed like a sign f good things to happen. Bah. I'm done.

Who the fork is she to be making judgements on your 'state'?

Your taking care of a dog is NOT determined by whether or not you let your room mate in on your mental state. There are lots of people who hide really severe problems successfully for years, you never 'know' someone's mental state well enough to make judgements on it unless you're a trained professional.

Yeah, dog aside, that's really rude and judgmental. I'm sorry you won't be able to get your doggle though!

That's what I thought. Sorry you won't be able to get the dog, Rowan.

Seriously! Your roommate is a crasshole. That is just not something you say to people. And it's really arrogant to think she has any idea what your mental state is and how it would affect a dog adoption.

Tell her she's in no place mentally to tell you about your mental state.

Totally agree with everyone else who said you're roommate is being a judgmental crasshole.

That aside, I'm sorry Rowan :( I've had something similar happen with a dog and it's horrible once you have your heart set on one.
Tons of hugs!

Well, maybe your roommate's right... You're "not in a good place" because you're living with her!! Boo for the roommate!
Sorry about the whole situation... I know how it feels to not get a doggie when you really want one. :(

aw that sucks. I'm sorry.

I agree with what everyone else has said. She thinks you're "not in a good place" what the fork is that shiitake? Like if she changed her mind about the dog that would suck, but at least if she said that she wouldn't sound like such judgmental bisque with the whole pretending to care about your welfare(?)

crasshole.

It sounds like she's rethinking having a dog in the house, but doesn't want to actually say that.

That's really uncool of your roommate. At least the doggie won't be homeless, though, since there's a long list of people who are interested? Still a sucky situation.

What a bisque.

I'm sorry you can't get the dog. I know you would be the best dog mommy.

I just want to say again how much I don't like your roomate for telling you your business. I get that she might not want a dog, but her reasoning behind it is wack. I'd call her passive aggressive, but her words almost border on plain aggressive.

That's awful. Even if you were in a 'bad state' (and who am I to know that?), maybe a dog could be a good thing for you. They can be super useful for helping out people that aren't doing so well (not to say that you're not!). It's not her place to determine that.

I'm sorry you can't get the dog that you wanted. Sounds like your roommate is being a passive aggressive bisque.

i'm sorry your roommate sucks. as others have said, at least this dog is lucky enough to have lots of people willing to give it a home. maybe some time in the future she'll stop being a bisque and let you adopt another dog. i mean, if you care and are responsible enough to go through all of that planning and preparing, you are definitely in some kind of "state" that allows you to care for a dog.

Is your roommate always so mean? This is so sad. I hope the situation changes and becomes dog-filled soon!
