hey jildez :) i'm 33 and i think i'm happenin enough to rock dreads! and your hair looks lovely and thick, it would probably dread well... but i reckon if you are gonna dread your hair at that length, to actually put dreads in (as opposed to letting it happen naturally) coz you run the risk with not-so-curly hair of ending up with those big flat homeless style dreads :/

oh and i cut my first lot of dreads off at 20cm and brushed them out and i had absolutely beautiful glossy undamaged hair after the frizz calmed down!

Thanks dahlia! Haha, homeless dreads, i have to admit,my hair is probably twice as wavy as this pic, but i'd still get the 'homeless dreads'. Last night i was looking at the dreads that Autumn Leaves suggested and it looks like it might be a nice compromise for me- i will probably be going back to school and teaching (university- much more flexible) in the fall, and it would be a good look. I am only finding links about doing it for afro-textured hair though, so i am going to keep looking. I'm visiting my mother in law right now and she smokes (not in the house while we are here, thank goodness) so i have been washing my hair daily, i feel like i am coated in ash.

I'm second on the left and this is many years ago ('98 -pot noodles were still believed to be vegan...)
this is probably the third time i had dreads after many hairdos/don'ts
i still miss them/doing stuff to my hair but due to having a 'professional' job i just couldn't get away with anything too far away from the norm.

I hate U2 and Counting Crows! I was more into the Cows, Melvins, Butthole Surfers, Ed Hall, Unsane, Jesus Lizard, etc....

Recent Dreadlock Pics. I added some shea butter after I washed my hair this time, and was surprised at how much longer its grown!

I had some for about 48 hours. My hair was just too thin... I couldn't make lots of big ones. I had 15 tiny ones. I looked like ICP.

Did you add the shea butter while your hair was still wet? I tried using shea once, but it left them looking ashy for some reason.
