I posted this pic in the Playground section, but it is also a great pic of my dread progress.

This is one of my poetry coaches. She has the prettiest dreads I've ever seen- and the parts in the photo that look pink are actually pink, which wins her extra points.

AutumnLeaves, you are just so damn cute. xWIMH, her hair is just lovely and I love the look on her face she has in that photo.

xWIMH Her dreads are what mine want to be when they grow up.
Thanks, paprikapapaya. <3 I think the baby makes everyone cute by association.

I was using diluted Dr. Bronner's but that shiitake still clings to my hair no matter how much I wash. It's a hard question because I find it nearly impossible to find stuff specifically suited for African American hair that's also vegan and residue free. For stuff that won't feel rinsed I use diluted vinegar. I don't know if it would be bad though for dreads, if there is some absorbed deep inside (however google tells me people have used it successfully!). However, when I'm dealing with hard water when I visit my parents (with my non dreaded hair), I like a vinegar rinse because stuff just doesn't feel like its off otherwise.

Y'all, I recently discovered loc tutorials on YouTube and am officially in love with pipe cleaner curls. Also, these curled tight so my locs are much longer (just past my shoulders now). AutumnLeaves, I found a shampoo I like. I've been using Jason's Tea Tree Oil naturalizing shampoo, and I love it! It leaves my hair feeling soft and clean without any sort of film.

Mo, I love that girl! Did you see the video where she became a drag queen for a day?
