I was reading a Rachel Ray cookbook the other day and noticed that in the ingredient lists she always has it written as such:

2T EVOO (Extra Virgin Olive Oil)

This was done in recipe number 1 to the end of the book. Every single time.
Is it just me or could one just have a disclaimer at the beginning of the book that says what EVOO stands for rather than just doing it in every recipe? If you have to describe it each time, perhaps one should not be using EVOO. It must not be really a time saving acronym if you still have to write out what it means on every single page.

The only reason I know this acrocnym is because I occaionsally watch her show and I find it to be annoying, is it really hard to just say extra virgin olive oil? I agree there should be a disclaimer or legend at the beggining of her books because I have never heard anyone other than her use this term.

I think this is just another way she tries to be cutesy and it is VERY annoying. She does it on TV too.

Isn't EVOO kind of her thing? When I think of RR, which isn't often, I think EVOO and trash bowl. So it seems the explanation in every recipe would just not be needed. Those are valuable letters I'll never get back.

i'm asking because i just can't face watching her for a minute... does she pronounce it E-V-O-O or ee-voh or ee-vous?

Because when i read this i hear Julia Child saying "EE-VOUS" with her lovely rising intonation

Yeah, that is pretty much exactly what she is famous for doing, saying and writing.

I actually don't know. I think it is ee-vous? Although I think she also says E-V-O-O. I don't have tv and don;t see her that often.

Given the millions she has therefore spent in marketing and branding I think this EVOO cookbook thing is a real fiasco and I may indeed write a letter about it to her management.

I haven't seen her show in years, but I remember her saying "ee vee oh oh olive oil" every single time. Like she was trying real hard to make it a thing.

Alright, new plan. Can we all steal EVOO, but only say it in a Julia Child voice? And in cookbooks:
"EVOO (ee-vOUS!)"

Isa, in your next books I expect to see this.

That's even worse! Then it should be E-V-olive oil. Not E-V-O-O olive oil. That's saying extra virgin olive oil olive oil.
Madness!

I think she was explaining what it was every time. Like, "EVOO (that means olive oil!"

But it's totally like saying SAT test.

But it's not even E-V-O-O olive oil. It's E-V-O-O--extra virgin olive oil. So forking unnecessary. This has been driving me nuts for years. Thankfully I've been tv-less for three years now.

I like Rachel Ray but her EVOO-ing drives me crazy. I didn't realize she wrote it out this way in her books, so unnecessary!

Bahahahahahaha!

I love RR and I don't care who knows it! EVOO and Yumo all day long!

But, yes the book does not need to wright it out. Everyone knows what that means if they are a fan of hers. She even sells bottles of it on her site.

Don't forget her NUTRISH dog food. NUTRISH is trademarked I think. As is her dog's name, ISABOO.

Put some EVOO on that bowl of NUTRISH and you have a YUMMO 30-minute meal for your family!

i saw evoo on a menu once a few years ago and had to ask the waiter what it was. i was at a table with a dozen other people, and none of them knew, either. i didn't know rayray was responsible for this. i have always been bothered by her, and now i know she must be stopped.

that's horribly redundant but probably a marketing tool since she has her own olive oil named "EVOO" of course.
