What about a watch? Or a pocket watch. I love pocket watches. I bought one for my dad one year. I had it engraved with his initials. He still uses it, especially for special occasions.

If he's outdoorsy, a really sweet compass might be nice instead. Or one of those multi-tools. My dad carried a pocket knife for decades. A few years ago, he made the switch to a Leatherman. He's persuaded many of my cousins and uncles to do the same.

I'm thinking about getting him a belt buckle this year. You can find so many different kinds, whether they're jokey, or just pretty/handsome, or cool, or sentimental. Or a new guitar strap. I found some really sweet ones with vintage fabric online.

ETA: Just bought my dad an Old Milwaukee belt buckle on Ebay. He'll love it (it's his go-to beer, for whatever frakin' reason), and I didn't have to go outside in the snow!

I buy my dad a huge bottle of Tanquerey gin & bag of macadamia nuts every year!

My husband's into American football & loves anything related to his team, you could have a look at his teams stuff in the NFL store.

Where did you find those? I'm sure my dad could use a new one.

I actually bought one for my boyfriend when I was at Renegade Craft Fair last week. The company is called Souldier. They're based in Chicago, which is pretty sweet. They had a bunch of different ones. It looks like you can do custom ones online.

Word of warning, though. The ends are leather. Not vegan. :(

Here's the one I bought Fred. The fabric is from the '70s. The guy at the booth said one of the guys from MGMT has one from the same fabric. Swanky.
