What I would like is a vegan whole grain bread option. Iceberg lettuce on white bread leaves me feeling hungry again about 5 minutes later. I would also like not to be given a hard time about asking for extra vegetables. I'm leaving the cheese off. The vegetables are the entire sandwich! Whatever. Subway is emergency road trip food only, anyway.

Our Subway had that avocado spread thing and I about died of happiness... but then I wondered if it had milk or something in it... would much rather have avocado slices, but like someone said, probably a west coast thing... you west coasters always get such neat stuff.

I also get hungry shortly after Subway consumption and therefore don't eat it often, but it's a nice alternative sometimes.

My boss orders subway once a week for us and they get the sandwiches made so I can eat them, but veggie always means iceberg lettuce, pickles, onions and peppers ... I don't eat them. Subway is reserved for when there is really just nothing else and I'm hungover (and that hasn't happened in years).

I'm all for the fake meats, but I wouldn't start eating there.

The one's I've been to that had avocado had halves sitting there, and when I'd order it they sliced it and put it on my sandwich - no spread. But this was a year ago.

Also, I'd totally go there more often if they had mock meats. Hummus too. (Vegenaise. Daiya. *sigh* Dreams.) Also, if I knew which dressings were vegan because I haven't bothered to look it up. As it is I just get it with oil, vinegar, salt & pepper.

But in this thread someone mentioned the veggie patty was vegan? I thought I remember hearing it wasn't?

Nope, it's definitely got egg whites in it. And maybe something else I can't remember.

I heart Subway! I never feel anything but full, since I always get every. single. veggie. And sometimes, if I'm in the middle of nowhere and don't know when my next food choice will appear, I eat a whole footlong (in two sittings).

Am I a bad vegan for disliking Subway? I've never been there and NOT had the bread been way too chewy/stale-ish.

No, the patty has egg, at least in the States.

I think they use different recipes for different countries, because someone on a Dutch vegan contacted Subway and apparently they do have vegan whole wheat bread over here. The veggie burger/patty still isn't vegan, though. At least I can get a slightly more nutritious sandwich than just white bread, but something like hummus or vegan meaty slices would be great! I love Subway when there aren't many other vegan options in the neighbourhood.

I think the veggie patty is made by morning star, so yeah, cheese and eggs.

I dunno, everytime I go in there the veggies are so wilted and sad looking. Maybe they could work on that before adding anything new to the menu--?

I guess that depends on the particular store. I usually go to a super busy one, where the line is at least 4 people deep at all times, and the veggies are super fresh and crisp looking.
