Hello new PPK. I need a bag that I can buy online, and I'm thinking messenger because I need it to be fairly large (large enough to fit a sketchbook, art supplies plus lunch and maybe some groceries too). But really you can feel free to recommend me any kind of backpack. I have no time to go to stores and try some on, since I got my job. I have no days off! All I know is that I tried on a friends Timbucktoo bag and did not like the way it sat/felt, I'm a pretty small guy. I know they make different sizes and things but this was that super common one you see lots of people with.
Thanks in advance for your help!

I LOVE my Timbuktu! I don't know how a bag is supposed to fit (adjust the straps?), but it's durable, and doesn't smell weird after repeated sitting on the train. A few pockets, and while the medium is a little larger than I like, it fits standard sized folders and notebooks (+ lunch) quite well.

I love my Chrome. I've had it for several years now. It's big and holds up really well.

My Manhattan Portage bag has lasted for ages. I recently recommended the brand to another PPKer who bought one and is happy with it too.

i always recommend the ReLoad bags. i have both a one strap and a two strap by them and they are both excellent. waterproof liners, lots of sizes, customizable colors. they can be a bit pricey, but worth it.

I have a Crumpler Seedy Three that has served me well for years. It sits well on my back no matter how full. I had to rip the logos off, because it reminds me of ICP. Check the REIoutlet site to see if any are on sale. I'm finally retiring it & am upgrading to a small Baileyworks Super Pro that is arriving tomorrow. I'll let you know if it lives up to it's reputation. Also, take a look at the Seagull Black Bag. Pretty nice deal for a handmade one.
update on the Bailey: It's significantly larger than I expected. Possibly by a full size. It's well made, feels comfy loaded up & the strap system is smart. I'm looking forward to lots of time with this thing on my back.

I have had two Dickies messanger bags since HS and both lasted over 10 years. I'm a fan.

I have a Seagull Black Bag and I love it. I would highly suggest http://www.blicksbags.com/. everything is handmade, pretty inexpensive and I am pretty sure she is at least vegetarian if not vegan!
