5ish. couldn't tell you my veganniversary.

21 years! But I have been vegan from birth so no tricky transition. I'm always very impressed with people who chose to become vegan as it has been easier for me as it is all I know.

Only 3.5 years for me

I've been doin' the vegan eats thing since Jan 2003. I'm not perfect, but I feel like it's a lifelong process. I guess that'll be 8 years in January... woah. I've been a *vegetarian* since 1995 though, so this is my 16th year without meat. Interesting... i've been vegetarian twice as long as vegan.

Same here. I first went vegan 8 years ago, but there was a period of 3 years when I went back and forth between vegetarian and vegan. So 5 full years. No idea when to celebrate my veganniversary. Although, I'll probably start celebrating in mid November (when I joined the PPK originally) because that was when I made a lifetime decision to be vegan.

I think if I would have known about veganism and the belief system behind it that I would have totally skipped vegetarianism altogether and just became vegan in high school.

I've got almost three years.

Well, if we get partial credit for vegetarian years... I've went vegetarian in January of 1987, so in a few months I'll be starting my 25th meatless year. Some guy in a meat... sales... truck... thing pulled over while I was walking the dog the other day and asked me if I ate steak. I said I didn't and he said, "C'mon, everyone likes a good steak!" I told him that I very literally hadn't eaten steak in a quarter of a century and I wasn't going to start now. I think he thought I was full of shiitake.

Cool and I agree. I've been vegetarian for about 18 years but didn't stop using dairy until about four years ago. My transition was ridiculously easy once I acutally made my mind up, since there really wasn't that much of a difference anyway. I only had to wean myself off cheese sandwiches... Anyway I'm always more impressed with those who go vegan late in life than those who do it in their teens. I mean, it's awesome either way, but it feels like it's got to be a lot harder for those who have been cooking and eating non-vegan for decades. On the other hand I never had to fight my family when I went veg, others aren't so lucky from what I hear so what do I know?

I've been vegan for 11 years, had been vegetarian for 11 years prior to transitioning to vegan.

I've been vegetarian since I was about 5 years old. I stopped eating meat when I learned that it came from animals and never looked back. I have only been full on vegan since April 2010. I stopped eating eggs years ago so it was really just a matter of dropping the dairy - it was much easier than I ever thought it would be.

I have learned so much from PPK. I was mostly a lurker on the old boards - reading and learning. I cannot see ever going back to eating dairy.

It's been 12-13 years. I don't have a veganiversary, but I guess now I'm at the point where over half of my life has been spent vegan.

I think it is so cool that you have been vegan from birth. I am raising my son vegan and would love your insights on being a vegan child. Was anything hard about it? Was it an issue not being able to do certain things with friends? Any tips?

seventeen years here!

Well, I just passed vegetarian decade 'bout now. It was shortly after my birthday in 2000.

I decided to go vegan late January in 2001, but I willingly ate some pancakes with eggs my mom made in early March that year so I guess I should use that date. I had come in from a vacation with my dad in the middle of the night and she didn't know and like, never, cooks. She decided to play mommy dress up and make pancakes, and of course used eggs and milk. I didn't tell her I went vegan because I woke UP to the pancakes. So I ate them because she didn't know and never cooks and I felt bad.

So, the end of spring break, 2001 is veganiversary of officialness. But the mental choice was late January.

This reminds me to drop some b12.

A mere nearly-five years. I'm also not sure when my veganniversary is - I was expecting I wouldn't be able to go without cheese for long so didn't keep track, but it's probably sometime in early January.

I'm just at 3 years this month. Vegetarian since '98.

I've been vegan for a year and almost ten months. My veganniversary is January 1st, I think. I stopped eating meat when I was 10, in 2001.

It's been a little over six years for me. Which seems kind of weird, I always feel like I counted wrong.

Someone where between 5 and 6 for me, I believe. Though I was vegetarian for quite awhile before that. Lots of blogs and the PPK convinced me I could do it. Yay for the Internet.
