I think I might have been one of the earliest "former" sig-creators. I figured the the 3 or 4 people who remember me might like a clue to my new secret identity. I like that others are putting names in sigs. It helps me keep track of who is who. There is no way I would remember the name change thread.

I have my old avatar (even without the subnick to match it, boo) and an allusion to my old name in my sig. So there.
My favorite is going through the user image thread and thinking "hmm, this person looks like this person!" and then realizing it IS that person just with a different name.

Name changes are ok, as long as the avatar is the same. Otherwise I don't know who's who.

Even with the same avatars, it's still hard for me to tell who is who. I recognize "the face" but still can't recall the name.

Do I need to have my old name in my sig? I just added my middle name. And I still have my kitty avatar.

Later, of course, I'd reveal the truth, but you'd be so charmed and impressed with my honesty that it wouldn't matter.
Besides, I didn't say much on the old boards. I've resolved to become incredibly verbose. Ditto.... I want to be like one of the cool popular people with a ridiculously high number of posts. This is my chance to be in your humping category! Don't take that away from me!

I might not know who you are if without the avatar and name in the signature because I need written/verbal and visual cues. A brief essay describing your affections toward me might also help.

We should require a psych evaluation before allowing name changes.

choirqueer wrote: I respect people's right to decide how important it is to them that I know who they are as long as nobody makes fun of me or takes it personally if I don't know. If you put your name in your sig, I'm more likely to know who you are/were. If you don't, maybe I'll recognize your avatar, maybe not. If you have a name that's similar to 8 other people's names, maybe I'll go on thinking you're all the same person. If it's not a big deal to you whether it's easy to know who you are, that's cool and I respect that. Yet another beautiful response from choirqueer. That's exactly how I feel. Besides, I have a very good memory for details, so you'd be surprised how many changed names I am easily keeping track of in my head. Having said that, I've just discovered I do still have a copy of my old avatar, so I'll put that up again for now since some people might appreciate it. My name change wasn't radical, so anyone to whom my old name would mean something will probably recognise me anyway.

My home town, Brisbane, acquired the nickname "Brisvegas" when it got its only casino about 15 years ago. I am a vegan from Brisvegas, hence BrisVegan.
