Recently, I really enjoyed "Being Elmo" (on Netflix) about Kevin Clash, the puppeteer behind Elmo.
What's the most overrated movie you've seen in recent memory?

The new Spiderman movie. Oh Lard, I hated it... Andrew Garfield reminded me SO MUCH of Hayden Christensen in the Star Wars prequels and I just couldn't get past the awful, whiny, adolescent-ness.

I had a red wine ice cream once, which is only semi-unusual, but it had a ridiculous name ("The Lakeview Barhopper" or something like that).

I actually don't really watch a lot of cooking shows, but I love those really old Julia Child clips.

"Mamma Mia"
I loved all of the fun in the movie, it seemed like everybody enjoyed working on it and Meryl was charming and sang and was wonderful.

What are you going to be for Halloween this year? I'm sorely tempted to go as Nicki Minaj and it might actually happen. Have you ever been burned badly while cooking?

Realistically I probably won't dress up, but I always have a bunch of ideas. I think it would be fun to go as an airplane (your arms can be the wings!)

A twofer!
Yes, I have been badly burned while cooking... well, badly burned as in scars were left, but not badly burned enough to visit the hospital. A hot, old-fashioned pizzelle maker probably left the worst scars, but that's not going to stop my in my quest to veganize pizzelles.
The most delicious thing I've eaten in the past week or so is cold oatmeal made with a touch of maple syrup, unsweetened soy milk, and blueberries. A close runner up was some bruschetta styled couscous I made a several days ago.

Probably the weather. In the San Francisco Bay Area where I live there are a lot of little micro-climates, including some really chilly foggy areas. It's so nice and warm and generally dry here though. Plus close to public transportation.

105 degrees F. It was incredibly unpleasant. Not as unpleasant as an indoor temperature of 120, but still.

I'm really dreading the lack of daylight. Do you pack your lunch or buy?

When I was still working full-time, I would bring lunch about 75% of the time because the vegan options around where I worked weren't so great. When I did have to buy lunch, I usually just ended up getting a frozen Amy's meal or something from a nearby supermarket, which is decent in a pinch but gets kind of boring after a while because they only had like 3 kinds that were vegan.

Are you going to participate in the cookbook challenge?

Yep, definitely in some of the weeks! I already made one of the dishes last night, just need to upload the pictures before I post about it.
Whether you're participating in the challenge or not, what's a recipe you've tried lately from a cookbook or blog and really liked?

On the Glow Basic Oatmeal Squares from Oh She Glows. My schedule is such that I need a portable second breakfast around 10:30, and one of these and a piece of fruit is perfect. What's the oldest cookbook you own? What state is it in? (Good as new? Held together with scotch tape? Splattered with various batters?)

One called the Vegetarian Bible...I've never used it. a friend got it for me as a graduation present for college, but the recipes all looked pretty nasty. Not sure how old it is, I've only had it for 4ish years.
What cookbook is next on your wishlist to own?

nope. I at least make sure the blanket is on the bed instead of the floor, but that is about it. The cat prefers lumpy blankets to nest in, so I don't bother.
What housekeeping/cleaning habit do you wish you had that you just don't bother with in reality?

Vacuuming. . . it has to get to the point where the floor is disgustingly dirt/hair/dust-covered before I can make myself do it.
