What's the most unusual or interesting spice in your spice cabinet and why did you buy it?

I bought it when I was in Turkey earlier this year because it was part of a set of spices that also included saffron, and since saffron is stupidly expensive here and this set was cheap, I couldn't resist. What's up with all the spammers today?

Make my own, unless I get a craving and don't feel like waiting for the chickpeas to soak.
Favorite flavor of hummus?

I, as a rule, hate musicals. I don't like people breaking into song for no reason. It's okay in children's films, but I don't like the big meaty emotionless voices of people who sing the same song seven times a week, thirty weeks a year, and I don't particularly like the "Musical" style of song-writing - sort of sixties music hall but neutered and formulaic and joyless and easy. Obviously, there are countless counterexamples, but fork em all.
That musical episode from Buffy was fun, though. Cabaret is probably my favourite because the music is all framed by the story, it's not people singing about going to the dentist and it's got abortions and sex and Nazis.
What genre of media do you just not see the appeal of?

I'd probably feel obligated to do something responsible like invest it or donate it to a charity unless you stipulated that I had to do something fun with it.
If a secret donor were going to buy you one item, anything you want, but it can only be one item and you can't sell it or give it away, what would you ask for?

No, I get really overwhelmed on a regular day at the mall, so it just sounds hellish...
Do you enjoy spending holidays with your family?

Suddenly a lot warmer, which is pissing me off in my winter boots and long coat. Still drizzly though.
Do you put up a Christmas tree, and if so, real or fake?

I constructed my own tree out of vertically placed thin logs, and decorated it with stars. I take that one out in December.
What is the most prevalent colour in your wardrobe?

What is the most prevalent colour in your wardrobe? Basically all my clothes are black and/or purple. What is the most interesting fiction book you've read lately?

Unfortunately I haven't been reading for fun much lately. . . I read Little Bee by Chris Cleave pretty recently, though, and definitely found it enjoyable and interesting.
