There are non dried herbs now? Weird.

I confess that I abuse bottled lemon juice so often and skip zest so often that I've made chickpea cutlets countless times and never realized it calls for zest. It'll serve me right if one day I make them with zest and they turn out 10x better.

I confess, I have become rather vain about my cooking skills. I quit going to (non-ppk) vegan potlucks because I was sick of all the food being kind of lame, except the stuff I brought. Maybe it's because they're all using jarred garlic and bottled lemon juice (side-eye at the rest of y'all).

Last time I went to a non PPK potluck 4 people brought supermarket hummus & pre-chopped veggies!

FAIL!

I overcooked my cupcakes. Serves me right for using bottled lime juice instead of fresh.

I find the prospect of working on my dissertation to be so terrifying that sometimes I can't work at all.

I'm making pasta and the sauce is from a jar.

I have used instant oatmeal in granola recipes (including a recipe that specifically said, "Do not use instant oatmeal"), and it has always turned out fine.

Oh yeah, and we always use bottled lemon and lime juice, frequently use bottled garlic, and mostly use dried herbs. Though I've not considered that confession-worthy.

But what if you want sliced garlic? It tastes different!

I call this Disserphobia. I had a bad case of it in 1996. I did eventually end up finishing and defending my dissertation, in 1999. In between I did all kinds of crazy things, including moving away from grad school for a year, and having a baby!

I've been using the frozen cubes for so long that I've forgotten that it tastes different. Don't remind me!

I ate the most of the candy I was supposed to hand out to my preschool students for our halloween party this week. Oops.

Oh and prior to that, I ate an entire bag of oreos in 2 days.

WHAT ABOUT ROAST GARLIC!?

Seriously, how can you live without all the different ways to do garlic? Maybe I'm just a bigger garlic fan, but that sounds crazy to me. Those "easy garlic" things don't make any sense to me. Crushing garlic is like the easiest cooking thing ever anyway. And damn it, I like to slice it or chop it or ROAST a whole bulb of it and squeeze the roasted cloves out of their skins into a casserole or stew....

Anyone else getting hungry?

I went to the store last night. Bought a whole bunch stuff including a case/thing of soda (be quiet). When I left the store with my grocery bags, I realized I didn't have the soda. I went back to the shopping cart corral to check for it in the underneath area. It wasn't there. I figure someone stole it. I went back inside to the checkout line to see if it was left there. No case of soda. I was so embarrassed I just got in my car and drove away and never mentioned it to anyone.

Until now.

Confession: last night when I went grocery shopping I totally forgot to buy a case of soda. I was headed back into the store to get some when I noticed this guy leave his in the bottom of his cart. While he went back inside to look for it, I snagged his soda and drove off like a bat out of hell. I wonder if he ever figured out what happened to his soda?

I made tacos on Thursday, had them for lunch on Friday, and taking them again tomorrow. I just don't want to cook tonite...

When I'm feeling fancy, I'll add extra garlic, herbs, and tomatoes... but I still use the sauce from the jar!

I would probably eat at Chipotle 4-6 days a week if I felt that it was more socially acceptable and there was one closer to my house.

I like to call it "Cha po tul" too because I think it's funny.

I am completely creeped out by the poop thread, but can't resist opening it. I always worry that one of you is going to post pictures....

Quit yer hatin'! OK now that I think about it, I bought fresh garlic for the purpose of roasting on two occasions in the past three years. I should add that I eat out a lot, so there's no shortage of otherly-prepared garlic in my life.

I ate at Chipotle over a hundred times in 2009; I know because I counted the receipts for my taxes. There's a thread on the old ppk about this, because when I emailed Chipotle and told them how much I ate there, they sent me a bunch of free stuff... a t-shirt, a framed certificate, and coupons for 15 free meals.

I still eat there about twice a week and, like you, I could happily eat there 4-6 times a week.

I always use garlic powder. Bring on the shame.

i used to use being vegan as an excuse for not going to school fundraisers (because pleeeeaaasssse, I don't have the money to pay £10 per head to sit at a table and not eat or drink anything) but my baking friend borrowed my copy of Vegan cupcakes and now she does all the baking for the shindigs and ALWAYS makes vegan ones.... so now I have no excuse... it was a damn good one as well *sigh*
