I have a huge bowl of vegan ramen sitting in front of me and I only have a flimsy plastic spoon. When I am done with the noodles there is going to be a TON of broth left. At home slurping would be the obvious answer, but I'm at my desk at work surrounded by people. I don't really know what is appropriate in this sitch. I usually never care what is approp or not, but for some reason I feel like I am going to get super judged if I hold this bowl up to my face and drink it.
What would the PPK do?

Sometimes, but never on purpose. I kinda have this thing where I hate watching or hearing people eat. It really grosses me out, so I don't want to do that to others. But sometimes it's too damn good to NOT slurp.

I try to tip the bowl and pour the liquid into my mouth, without making any noise.

I'd just quietly drink the broth and fugedabout-it :-) the rest.

I got too excited about ramen and chose absolutely, but my real answer is I try to be discreet.

I tried to do it without slurping but there was so much broth coming at me I had to. And it was really hot and I was too impatient to wait. allularpunk wrote: i recently discovered that i am slurper of hot things. tea and soup and coffee.
i rarely eat cereal but, i don't think i ever slurped it. I think it's an automatic reaction. Our mouths are trying to prepare for the steaming liquid headed its way. Now that I think about it, I think I slurp my tea too.

When I am by myself, one year olds eat more neatly than I do. Around people, I have great manners.

Yeah, slurping in my company is pretty much going to get you a punch to the throat. My mother will testify to that, she really should know better.

I don't think I even slurp at all...maybe occasionally when I have some tea or whatever, but usually I wait for anything to cool down first. Either that or I end up with a burnt mouth...

Sometimes I slurp, but not with every spoonful. I try to make sure it doesn't make a lot of noise, but sometimes it happens.

I hear that it's rude NOT to slurp in some countries.

I don't think I'm a slurper, and I might be mildly annoyed if I was around someone who slurped. Obnoxious slurping is really annoying. It's right up there with belching and sucking loudly on a sucker.

The ladyfriend managed to slurp a burrito the other night. I was proud of myself for not doing anything rash. Slurping anything but tea drives me crazy. I make the exception for tea because it seems pretty universal, and it usually fairly quiet. Usually.
