I hate the sound of utensils on plates and teeth, chewing, slurping, and smacking. I have no idea how I manage to sit around other people while they eat. I never slurp on purpose.

ok, but really the worst is when someone keeps sucking on their straw when there's nothing left in the bottom of their cup. ok, i get it, you need a refill, crasshole.

All these people saying they hate slurping makes me really sad! Slurping is the best, the food tastes so much better, and in many societies it is polite, it shows that you enjoy your meal. If you eat it silently they will assume you think their soup (for example) is bad. If someone got mad at me for slurping I would get really pissed at them.

The sound is hideous.
I think it wouldn't bother me if I were in a country where it was the thing to do, but since I'm not, I go nuts when there's one person in a full room and they're making this noise.
I say go ahead and drink from the bowl in these cases, just don' make awful noises.

Whew! Such bitterness! I don't slurp, but I do like sucking up long strands of pasta. Kinda messy at times, but so worth it.
