I know this forum is filled with inquiries from travelers, but I have a bit of a twist on my questions. I definitely know where to eat for the most part, I've got a place to stay (ne portland, kinda close to voodoo doughnut(!!!)), the zinester's guide to portland has been purchased from microcosm and on it's way, and I started (obsessively) reading stumptownvegans blog. I'm getting a little excited to say the least, as it's my first pilgrimage to vegan mecca, and what's a better way to celebrate your 11th vegananniversary than stuffing your face with vegan doughnuts, miscellany baked goods, smoked soy curls and mac and cheese, rice bowls from native bowl (Will I be a total nerd if I asked Julie to sign my copy of Vegan Diner?), vegan corn dogs, hotsy totsy italian food, microbrews and general shitaake you can't find on the east coast!
So, my question to you all - what else is there to do other than eat to my heart's content? My interests include, but are not limited to: COFFEE!!, beer, punk and hardcore (any websites with local show listings?), swimming, reading (definitely hitting up Powell's), bike riding (I'll be renting a bike to get around), farmer's markets (which ones are your favorites? I'll be staying with a friend and would love to cook for him.), I'm not necessarily a "shopper" by any means, but I like looking at clothes and I am in the market for a cute watch.
Also, would anybody be interested in meeting up for a meal, particularly breakfast or lunch, possibly dinner on Tues July 26 - Mon Aug 1? That Saturday, I am planning on renting a car to take a day trip to Eagle's Creek for some hiking and/or to the coast. I think it would be rad to see a west coast beach sunset! I can bring you some Philly treats like Peanut Chews!!
