Well, I'm a student at Portland State... and I'm tired of eating at the same coffee shop every time I'm on campus. I'm sure there are a lot more vegan options around, but I don't have the time between classes to explore. So, with that said, anyone know of some great vegan spots on campus?

Buddha Bites is up by Homegrown, they have a pretty big quinoa salad plate that you can easily leave the cheese off. And other stuff, but that's the only thing I've ever ordered.

Cafe Yumm off of 6th and Montgomery.

There's a Chipotle somewhere close!

They also sell Sweet Lemon Bistro wraps in the student store by Starbucks in Smith.

I work at Food For Thought! We're in the basement of Smith and are a student-run all veg (mostly vegan) cafe. We have super cheap coffee and baked goods too (I'm a baker there!).
Homegrown Smoker is the best too!

Is Food For Thought open to the public or just students? What are the hours? I need a change of pace.

Yeah, totally a vegan friendly area! Buddha Bites has Daiya too, for what it's worth. Just make sure you request things to be cooked with oil as opposed to butter. I probably go to Cafe Yumm the most often out of all the places there because I like things I can easily carry. And more love for Homegrown Smoker, of course. Kicking myself to go soon....

Though it breaks my heart that Asaase Ital isn't there anymore...

Does anyone have any input on the dining hall @ PSU? I'm thinking of applying there and wanna know if it's feasible to live off a meal plan.

I go to Food 4 Thought every Monday, Tuesday and Thursday to fill my Food Fight cup with some hot black coffee. Sometimes I grab a pastry even if I should grab an apple or something instead.

There's a salad bar. And a Subway. There's also the Higher Taste burritos and some fruit cups, but you're probably better off saving your money and eating from carts!

I have no idea about the restaurants in food court, but none of them look very promising.

I eat at Saigon Kitchen a lot - they have tofu curry over rice or noodles, a huge asparagus serving for $5.50. The same family owns the cart right next to it, Asian Noodle, and one of their winter specials is veggie pho with tofu and lots of fresh herbs. Basha's isn't bad either, order a vegan falafel and you get hummus instead of dairy tahini. My favorite is Homegrown though, I just work on the SW side of campus so it's a bit out of the way. Oh also there's Fernando's in the cart pod on 4th - they have lots of vegan friendly wraps, salads, and burritos, vegan caesar salad being my fave.
