One of my friends is going up to Portland in a few weeks for an event at the Convention Center - any recommendations for vegan places to eat nearby?

How close? Blossoming Lotus is an easy MAX ride away.

Nicholas' is right up the street - Lebanese food with lots and lots of vegan options clearly marked on the menu.
ETA: the vegan mini-mall is like a 15 minute walk away...

You could take the MAX a couple stops back downtown, too, and jump off at Vegetarian House or Backspace, pretty easily... I'd go for Nicholas', myself.

If you are really pressed for time, there is a Chipotle a few blocks away.
What event is it? I'll be there in a few weeks myself.

Yeah, the mini mall, but the two places to eat there are more of coffee shops. Still though, they best check it out if they're vegan for sure! (Sweetpea, Red & Black to eat, Food Fight and Herbivore to peruse)

Sweetpea has a lot of food now, so it def. seems like an option. I'll see how much time I have next weekend for lunch and decide whether I can hoof it over to Sweetpea, or just stick close.

Sweetpea's sandwich menu is worth the hoofing.

That's a good point! Especially since they are donating 10% to the hens on the very day. Plus, I haven't actually tried any of the sandwiches yet.
