I'm going to be in Portland from April 22nd to the 25th, but I need ideas of things to do between meals. I'm already planning to see the Rothko exhibit at PAM, but any other suggestions would be lovely.

I'm going to take the airtram someday soon. Not sure if it's really exciting as it sounds.

tons of other galleries downtown ground control for some retro arcade action hike around forest park if you have a car, drive to the coast and/or hood river (bunch of great waterfall hikes in the gorge that time of year; the snow melt produces some raging waterfalls) check out ampersand on alberta if you're arty; specializes in art books and always has cool shiitake in stock, old and new

Powell's is a good time. There are some good parks for walking around. If you want company for the Rothko show, let me know, as I have not yet seen it. I own boggle and cribbage and will meet up for games. There's a Chinese garden downtown that's a nice short stroll with a tea house. There are places like Ground Kontrol and a lot of bars have some video games or pool. There's a contemporary craft museum, as well as a vacuum museum. Lots of thrift stores. Take a cat walk.

When we went to PDX, we didn't do much besides eat, but the highlights of the trip non-foodwise were Powell's (hours of fun!) and getting inked at Scapegoat. Have fun, H-Dog!

when my husband and i were in Portland for vacation we really enjoyed going to Ground Control and also just walking around the city. we also went to Powell's. i also second what someone said if you have a car head out to the Columbia River Gorge. it's astoundingly gorgeous.
we also took a trip to Mt St Helens but that was a few hours drive FYI.
not sure if you would consider this in the "meals" category but we also went to a ton of the brew pubs.
i liked Lucky Lab the best because we could sit outside and i could pet everyone's dogs.

We hung out at Ground Control and Backspace a lot while we were there on vacation. And couch park, love that park. It was peaceful! The Saturday/Sunday market was awesome, I picked up a lot of gifts for people there. And the Japanese garden of course!

Powell's is grand times. I lived in Portland for over a year but didn't really do much besides walking whatever trails my husband could find. I haven't even been to the zoo, or any museums, or anything.
But I have been to Powell's. Once I made him take me and he got bored, so I made him take me another time while he had a meeting to go to and I got to hang out there for hours. ;-)

When I was there I took a ride on the Aerial tram. If the weather is good it can give a nice view over Portland. http://www.portlandtram.org/

I just took the airtram! It was a lot of fun, but you definitely want to go on a clear day. We hiked up the hill and then took it down so it was free. It costs like $6 to take it up.

I know you're asking for non-eating suggestions and Kittee already mentioned it, but, yes- come to the bake sale this Sunday!! It's in the Mississippi neighborhood, which can be a fun place to walk around.
Also, I agree with granolapocalypse. Hoyt Arboretum is nice (and free)! They might even have a free guided tour during your visit. There are some lovely magnolias in bloom now. It's located in Washington Park, which is also home to the Japanese Garden (not free).
Oh oh and I really recommend going to Crystal Springs Rhododendron Garden, especially this time of year. It's free on Tuesdays/Weds.
If you like bridges, I think the St. Johns bridge is wonderful and you can walk across it to a trail in Forest Park.

Sweet! I didn't realize I'd be there on bake sale day.
Food-related events are welcome too, just didn't want everyone to have to repeat all the restaurant recommendations they've made in other threads.
